Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Expands Free Surveillance to Protect Nigeria’s Oil Assets

Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Strengthens Security of National Oil Assets

Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), a key player in Nigeria’s pipeline security and asset protection ecosystem, has expanded its operations to provide free surveillance coverage for oil and gas facilities near the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP).

The company says the initiative is a strategic move to enhance national development, ensure production stability, and foster community cooperation in the Niger Delta region.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement meeting in Bayelsa State, the General Manager, Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement at PINL, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, announced that the firm has voluntarily taken up security responsibilities for oil assets close to the TNP corridor.

The decision, he said, is a proactive step towards strengthening the protection of Nigeria’s critical energy infrastructure.

According to Mezeh, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) decided to extend its services “pro bono” in recognition of the importance of national interest and the need to maintain peace and stability across oil-producing communities.

“We wish to restate that PINL has taken on the responsibility of providing security for all oil and gas assets in close proximity to the TNP, even though they are not under our direct mandate,” Mezeh stated.

“We call on all stakeholders to scale up real-time community intelligence and vigilance around these assets for the collective good of our nation.”

PINL Expands Operations and Strengthens Community Relations

Mezeh revealed that the Biseni community has now been officially incorporated into PINL’s surveillance operations, with plans underway to include other communities in the Sagbama Local Government Area.

This development, he explained, underscores the company’s commitment to inclusive engagement and regional collaboration.

While presenting the company’s performance report for September, Mezeh noted that there were no incidents of pipeline vandalism in Bayelsa State or along the Trans Niger Pipeline corridor throughout the month.

He attributed this achievement to the sustained partnership between Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, security agencies, and local community stakeholders.

The synergy, he added, has resulted in uninterrupted oil and gas production across the eastern corridor, increased funding for host community development trusts, and improved peace and stability in the host regions.

Empowering Women and Youth Through PINL Initiatives

Beyond security operations, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) continues to empower women and young people across the Niger Delta through social investment initiatives.

According to Mezeh, data capture has been completed for over 2,000 women and girls across Abia, Imo, Rivers, and Bayelsa States under the PINL Women Entrepreneurs & Empowerment Initiative.

The programme focuses on small business development, financial literacy, and vocational training aimed at improving livelihoods in host communities.

Verification of beneficiaries is currently ongoing, with disbursements expected to commence soon. Similarly, PINL’s scholarship scheme for youth development is being processed, with payments to existing beneficiaries expected by November, and new entries from underrepresented communities being added to the programme.

Community Leaders Commend PINL’s Corporate Social Responsibility

Prominent community leaders and traditional rulers have applauded Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for its proactive approach to community engagement and corporate social responsibility.

The President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Professor Benjamin Okaba, expressed appreciation to PINL for maintaining open dialogue with host communities and for its commitment to peacebuilding.

“We thank PINL for recognising the roles of host communities and traditional institutions in protecting vital national assets.

The company’s community-friendly approach has helped reduce conflicts and promote mutual trust,” Okaba said.

Also, the President of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Jonathan Lokpobiri, commended PINL for its collaborative efforts with security agencies to curb environmental degradation and oil theft in the region.

Lokpobiri emphasised that the company’s initiatives have contributed significantly to restoring peace and environmental safety in Niger Delta communities.

The Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Mr. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, also confirmed that there has been no record of oil theft or pipeline vandalism in the area since August, attributing the success to PINL’s expanded surveillance operations.

NNPC Limited Commends Stakeholder Collaboration

In a goodwill message, the Project Monitoring Office of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) praised Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for its dedication to safeguarding vital energy infrastructure and its consistent engagement with host communities.

The agency assured that it would continue to support collaborative frameworks that prioritise national asset protection and community development.

With this latest move, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has positioned itself not only as a frontline surveillance company but also as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s quest for sustainable oil production and energy security.

The company’s “pro bono” expansion of pipeline surveillance coverage reinforces its commitment to national stability, community empowerment, and responsible corporate governance.

As Nigeria intensifies efforts to reduce oil losses, protect national infrastructure, and empower its citizens, PINL’s proactive actions serve as a model of corporate patriotism and strategic partnership in the country’s vital oil and gas sector.
