Fresh controversy as Fabiyi insists he has video showing how Mohbad was killed
Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has once again stirred nationwide debate after claiming he is in possession of a video that allegedly shows how the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was killed.
The actor, who has been one of the most outspoken personalities demanding justice in the aftermath of the singer’s death, made the fresh allegation in a video posted on social media on Thursday.
Fabiyi stated that the purported clip was sent to him in what he described as an attempt to extort him.
He insisted that the material, which he claims reveals crucial details on how Mohbad was killed, had compelled him to escalate the matter to President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking emotionally in the viral recording, the actor said he first notified the President in May 2025, alleging that Mohbad did not die of natural causes.
“President Bola Tinubu, I wrote to you in May 2025 that Mohbad was murdered. Part of the video was sent to me in an apparent attempt to extort me,” he said.
According to him, the Office of the President subsequently directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate, harmonise findings, and prosecute those implicated in the young singer’s death.
Fabiyi alleges attempted cover-up and intimidation over how Mohbad was killed
Fabiyi further claimed that officers of the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja had combed through the case file and identified individuals allegedly involved in a cover-up.
He asserted that the development prompted renewed pressure against him from suspects connected to the case.
“As of November 2025, after the FCID in Abuja noted key suspects already complicit in the alleged cover-up, the wife of the deceased turned herself in Abuja,” he said, alleging that fresh efforts were being made to suppress evidence relating to how Mohbad was killed.
He also accused some police operatives of attempting to silence him, stating that certain suspects were being encouraged to file petitions against him to weaken his advocacy.
“They are asking the same suspects to write a petition against me over illegal arrests. This suspect wants to silence me because of the evidence I hold,” he alleged.
Fabiyi noted that his personal safety was at risk, adding that he had remained persistent because of his loyalty to the current administration.
“I don’t know why it is wrong to be loyal to your government. I am putting my life on the line to stand by this government and to speak the truth,” he said.

Fabiyi’s new disclosure has reignited heavy public discourse, with many Nigerians demanding that he formally submit the alleged video to investigators rather than airing fragments of his claims online.
His post drew thousands of responses across various social media platforms, with users expressing frustration over the lingering uncertainties surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Some commentators argued that continued public speculation is worsening the emotional trauma experienced by the late singer’s family and fans.
Others insisted that any individual claiming to possess evidence of how Mohbad was killed should immediately cooperate with security authorities.
Mohbad, one of the country’s fast-rising young artists, died under controversial circumstances in September 2023.
His passing sparked nationwide protests, multiple investigations, and several petitions alleging foul play.
While the authorities have made various public assurances over the course of the probe, many Nigerians believe the process has been slow and inconsistent, further fuelling speculations.

Civil society groups, legal commentators, and entertainment stakeholders have repeatedly called for full transparency in the investigation.
Fabiyi’s latest claim has added yet another complicated layer to the already sensitive case.
Security analysts note that if the actor truly possesses video evidence detailing how Mohbad was killed, the law requires him to provide it formally to investigators so that it can be authenticated, analysed, and admitted as material evidence.
They also caution that withholding or selectively releasing such footage could disrupt the investigative process.
Meanwhile, public attention continues to grow as Nigerians await the next steps from the police, the FCID, and the Office of the President.
