Tinubu vows stronger military action after fresh attacks in Borno

President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s determination to eliminate terrorism following the recent violent attacks in Borno, describing the incidents as acts of desperation by weakened insurgent groups.

The President expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives recorded in Borno, particularly in Maiduguri, and extended heartfelt condolences to families affected by the tragedy.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and assured residents that the Federal Government stands firmly with them during this difficult period.

According to him, the security challenges witnessed in Borno are not signs of strength from the attackers but rather evidence that sustained military operations are taking effect.

He explained that continuous pressure from the armed forces has significantly disrupted the networks of criminal elements operating in the region.

This, he noted, has forced them into what he described as reckless and futile attempts to instill fear.

Tinubu commended the bravery of troops stationed in Borno who successfully repelled coordinated attacks on military positions.

He praised their professionalism, discipline, and commitment to protecting civilians and safeguarding national territory.

Their swift response, he said, prevented further casualties and demonstrated the readiness of Nigeria’s security forces.

The President emphasized that security agencies will intensify operations in Borno and other affected areas.

He disclosed that following a recent meeting with security and intelligence leaders, he approved additional operational equipment and logistical support to strengthen counterterrorism efforts.

These measures, he added, are already being implemented to enhance effectiveness on the ground.

To ensure proper coordination, Tinubu directed top security chiefs to relocate temporarily to Borno in order to oversee operations directly and respond promptly to emerging threats.

He also instructed emergency response agencies to provide adequate medical care and humanitarian assistance to victims of the attacks.

Reiterating his administration’s firm stance, the President declared that no part of Nigeria, including Borno, would be allowed to serve as a safe haven for terrorists.

He assured citizens that the government will continue to track down perpetrators, dismantle their hideouts, and neutralize their capabilities.

Tinubu further encouraged residents of Borno to remain resilient and support ongoing security efforts by providing useful information to authorities.

He stressed that collective cooperation between citizens and security agencies remains vital in restoring lasting peace.

The President concluded by affirming that his government remains fully committed to stabilizing Borno and ensuring that development activities can thrive without fear or disruption.

He reiterated that Nigeria will not surrender to intimidation, and that decisive action will continue until peace is firmly restored across all affected communities.
