Troops of Operation HADIN KAI rescued six abducted victims and arrested suspected terrorist collaborators during coordinated security operations.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded another major breakthrough in the ongoing war against insurgency in Nigeria’s North East after rescuing six abducted women and children during coordinated military operations across Borno and Yobe states.

The latest success came as soldiers intensified counter-terrorism offensives under Operation DESERT SANITY, a military campaign designed to weaken Boko Haram and ISWAP networks operating within the region.

Military authorities also confirmed the arrest of several suspected terrorist collaborators believed to be aiding insurgents with logistics and ammunition movement.

The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, through its spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.

According to the military, the rescued victims were freed during a carefully planned operation launched after intelligence reports and aerial surveillance identified suspicious terrorist movement around the Mandara Mountains axis.

Security sources explained that troops moved swiftly to a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda on May 12, 2026, where the victims were eventually rescued.

The operation is being regarded as another strategic achievement for Operation HADIN KAI, especially as security forces continue efforts to dismantle insurgent camps and rescue civilians trapped in terrorist-controlled areas.

The rescued victims were identified as Aisha Musa, 18; Aisha Mohammed, 17; Fatima Yahaya, 20; Saudatu Musa, 4; Garba Mohammed, 5; and three-month-old Mohammed Yahaya.

Military authorities revealed that the victims were among residents abducted during a violent Boko Haram/ISWAP invasion of Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.

Residents of the area had reportedly lived in fear since the attack, with several families uncertain about the fate of relatives taken away by the terrorists.

The successful rescue operation has therefore brought relief and renewed hope to members of the affected community.

Following their rescue, the victims were immediately moved to a military medical facility where they received urgent healthcare attention, psychological support, and humanitarian assistance before being reunited with their relatives.

The handover process was conducted through the traditional leader of Ngoshe community, the Bulama, Mallam Adamu Gunda, who reportedly expressed gratitude to the military for the successful intervention.

The military noted that Operation HADIN KAI has continued to sustain pressure on terrorist groups through coordinated land and air offensives aimed at restoring peace across troubled communities in the North East.

Apart from the rescue mission, troops also carried out intelligence-led operations targeting suspected terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers believed to be working with insurgent groups.

In one of the operations conducted at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, troops arrested a 40-year-old woman identified as Hauwa Bulama.

According to preliminary military findings, the suspect was allegedly travelling to Gezuwa to establish contact with four of her children believed to be active members of a terrorist group.

Items reportedly recovered from her included detergents, washing soap, torchlights, and seasoning cubes, materials security operatives suspect may have been intended for insurgent camps hidden within remote areas.

Security analysts have repeatedly warned that insurgent groups now depend heavily on civilian collaborators for the movement of food items, communication gadgets, and other basic supplies needed to sustain operations.

Military authorities confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to relevant security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In another major breakthrough, troops under Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by Military Intelligence operatives, arrested two additional suspects in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The suspects, identified as Bakura, 18, and Adiza, 17, were reportedly linked to an earlier operation involving the arrest of a suspected ammunition courier named Ba’akaka Abubakar, popularly known as Modogol.

Investigators alleged that the courier was intercepted while finalising arrangements to transport ammunition to terrorist fighters operating within the region.

Military intelligence reports further indicated that Adiza had allegedly been assigned the responsibility of collecting ammunition from the courier for delivery to a terrorist commander.

Security officials disclosed that investigations are ongoing to uncover wider supply networks and identify additional collaborators connected to the illegal movement of ammunition and logistics support to insurgent groups.

Authorities also stated that efforts are currently underway to track down the unnamed terrorist commander believed to be behind the operation.

The Nigerian military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters despite recent security challenges in parts of the North East.

According to the statement, troops have remained determined to dismantle terrorist cells, rescue kidnapped civilians, and prevent insurgents from regrouping in vulnerable communities.

Military authorities added that the recent operations demonstrate the growing effectiveness of intelligence-sharing, aerial surveillance, and coordinated ground offensives being deployed against terrorist groups.

Residents in some affected communities have continued to call for increased military presence, especially in rural settlements frequently targeted by insurgents.

While insecurity remains a concern in parts of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states, security experts believe sustained military pressure and improved intelligence gathering could further weaken terrorist activities across the region.

The military high command commended troops involved in the latest operations for their professionalism, courage, and resilience in difficult operational environments.

Authorities also urged personnel of Operation HADIN KAI to maintain the current momentum in ongoing offensives while continuing efforts to protect civilians and restore lasting peace in the North East.
