Nigeria Global Partnerships drive image rebranding, economic renewal, and national progress, says Minister Mohammed Idris at the Renewed Hope Dialogue in London.
Nigeria’s image and reputation are taking a new turn as the Federal Government strengthens Nigeria Global Partnerships to counter false narratives and drive economic renewal.
According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, this approach marks a fresh phase of engagement aimed at rebuilding trust, promoting investment, and repositioning Nigeria as a credible global player.
Speaking at the Renewed Hope Global Dialogue in London, themed “Strengthening Global Partnerships for Economic Renewal and National Rebranding under the Renewed Hope Administration,” Idris emphasized that Nigeria is determined to ensure that misleading global portrayals of the country are no longer left unchallenged.

Defending Nigeria’s image against false narratives
Idris condemned recent claims by some American lawmakers alleging genocide against Christians in Nigeria, calling the accusation baseless and irresponsible.
He described such narratives as misinformation campaigns designed to discredit the nation’s efforts toward peace and development.
“We have consistently refuted these falsehoods,” Idris declared.
“These are deliberate distortions spread by people who do not understand Nigeria’s diversity or complexity. Through Nigeria Global Partnerships, we will ensure that our true story is heard globally.”
He added that the Federal Government is committed to collaborating with credible international allies who can represent Nigeria’s reality accurately.
“We need friends who know Nigeria well — who understand our people and culture, and can join us in telling an authentic story,” he said.
Building a strong national brand
Idris explained that national image-building requires careful strategy, not chance. “A national brand does not emerge accidentally; it must be crafted, shaped, and projected through consistent effort,” he said.
To drive this process, the Ministry of Information and National Orientation has partnered with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to establish the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG).
This initiative promotes civic pride among citizens while enhancing the nation’s global credibility.
The NRMG recently launched the Nigeria Global Reputation Management Project, a professional framework managed by branding experts to ensure that Nigeria’s story is told with accuracy and authority.
Idris also announced that October 15 has been designated as Nigeria Reputation Day, a date set aside to celebrate and reinforce the importance of the country’s image and integrity.
Expanding diplomatic and economic opportunities
Highlighting the benefits of international collaboration, Idris said Nigeria Global Partnerships have become key to achieving the government’s economic transformation goals.
He pointed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy vision, known as the Tinubu Doctrine, which is built on the 4Ds — Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora.
“This year, Nigeria was officially admitted as a BRICS partner country,” he said, noting that the move opens new doors for trade, innovation, and cooperation with some of the world’s most powerful emerging economies.
He also celebrated Nigeria’s increasing recognition in global institutions, revealing that a Nigerian was recently elected Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), while another Nigerian — the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) — will preside over the 2026 GECF Ministerial Meeting.
“These appointments confirm international confidence in Nigeria’s leadership capacity,” he added.
Financial Transparency and Global Confidence
The Minister highlighted a major milestone in Nigeria’s financial reforms — the country’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List. This achievement, he said, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
“The delisting demonstrates that Nigeria is serious about fighting money laundering and terrorism financing,” Idris noted. “It sends a strong message to investors and international institutions that Nigeria is a responsible and credible partner.”
He credited the accomplishment to the joint efforts of several government agencies and international partners under Tinubu’s leadership.
“Nigeria Global Partnerships are working — our friends around the world now see a nation committed to reform, integrity, and growth,” he added.
Domestic Reforms for Economic Renewal
Beyond foreign policy, Idris outlined the administration’s ambitious domestic reforms aimed at revitalizing the economy and improving citizens’ welfare.
He cited the unified exchange rate, the national student loan scheme (benefiting over half a million students), and the new national minimum wage as examples of President Tinubu’s people-focused governance.
Other achievements include the National Consumer Credit Programme, the Presidential CNG Initiative for cleaner energy, the enactment of four new Tax Acts, and the establishment of five Regional Development Commissions.
To modernize agriculture and resolve long-standing conflicts in rural areas, the government has also created a Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
These initiatives, according to Idris, reflect a government committed to inclusive development and long-term stability.
Restoring Nigeria’s Global Standing
Idris stressed that the administration’s reform agenda is restoring international confidence in Nigeria’s leadership, both politically and economically. He said the nation’s growing participation in global platforms and strategic alliances shows that Nigeria is reclaiming its rightful place as a regional power and a key player in world affairs.
He added that the success of Nigeria Global Partnerships goes beyond government efforts — it depends on citizens, the private sector, and the Nigerian diaspora.
“Every Nigerian is an ambassador of this country,” Idris said. “Whether in business, academia, or technology, our people abroad must continue to promote the values of integrity, resilience, and excellence.”
A Renewed Hope for a Brighter Future
The Minister expressed optimism that the momentum of reform and partnership will continue to grow, reinforcing Nigeria’s economic recovery and global reputation. He assured that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on creating opportunities for Nigerians, expanding international cooperation, and ensuring sustainable national growth.
“We are an open, responsive, and reform-driven government,” Idris stated.
“We invite global partners, investors, and friends of Nigeria to engage with us. There are enormous opportunities here — in energy, digital technology, agriculture, and creative industries.”
He emphasized that Nigeria’s transformation is being driven by leadership that listens, adapts, and collaborates.
“Through Nigeria Global Partnerships, we are telling a new story — one of reform, resilience, and renewal. The world is beginning to see Nigeria not for its challenges but for its potential,” Idris concluded.
