Governor Adeleke launches full Akinlalu killings investigation, dispatches top delegation, vows justice, and assures community of peace and accountability.
The Osun State Government has launched a full Akinlalu killings investigation following the tragic deaths in Akinlalu community linked to the Amotekun security outfit.

Governor Ademola Adeleke directed a top-level delegation of senior officials and security chiefs to visit the town, assuring residents that justice will prevail.
Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, expressed shock after receiving a preliminary briefing from his Special Adviser on Security Matters. He condoled with families of the victims and prayed for divine comfort.
“I feel the pains of our people in Akinlalu. Their loss is a heavy one, but I assure them that investigations are ongoing and justice will be done,” he said.
To strengthen the response, a State Security Council meeting has been scheduled for Monday.
The council will deliberate on the Akinlalu killings investigation as well as broader security concerns, including the fear of banditry spillovers from neighboring Kwara State.
Governor Adeleke ordered that a high-powered delegation immediately proceed to Akinlalu after the Security Council meeting.
Members will include:
The Special Adviser on Security Matters
The Attorney General of the State
The Commissioner for Information
The Commissioner for Political Affairs
The Commissioner for Transportation
The Special Adviser on Legal Matters
Service chiefs from various security agencies
Their mission is to gather firsthand information and engage with community leaders as part of the ongoing Akinlalu killings investigation.
Adeleke reaffirmed his government’s commitment to due process, stressing that anyone found culpable would face justice.
“I am a rule-of-law governor. This matter will be handled strictly within the law. No one is above accountability,” he said, adding that security outfits like Amotekun must operate lawfully at all times.
The governor urged residents to remain peaceful as the inquiry progresses.
“We will get to the root of this matter. I urge the people of Akinlalu to stay calm. Our government will not fail them,” he assured.
The killings in Akinlalu have intensified discussions about security lapses in Osun State. The forthcoming Security Council meeting will explore strategies for preventing such tragedies and improving inter-agency coordination.
Analysts note that the credibility of regional outfits like Amotekun depends heavily on transparency and accountability in situations like this.
Residents of Akinlalu and civil society groups have called for transparency in the Akinlalu killings investigation. They insist that justice must be served to restore trust in the security system.
Community leaders welcomed the governor’s quick intervention but stressed the need for full accountability.
The incident has raised wider concerns across the South-West about the role and oversight of regional security outfits.

Many observers believe the outcome of the Akinlalu killings investigation could set a national precedent for how such cases are handled.
Governor Adeleke closed his statement by assuring citizens that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority.
“We are determined to uncover the truth, ensure justice for the victims, and prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.
With the official launch of the investigation, dispatch of a powerful delegation, and a security council meeting underway, the Osun State Government has demonstrated its resolve to deliver justice and restore peace to Akinlalu.
For now, residents await the outcome of the Akinlalu killings investigation, hopeful that it will bring closure and strengthen security in the state.
