Accord Party confirms Adeleke as candidate for 2026 governorship election

Governor Adeleke secures Accord Party ticket for 2026 Osun election, pledges continued development and urges citizens to support his governorship bid.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially secured the Accord Party governorship ticket for the 2026 election, after a primary election conducted on Wednesday in Osogbo.

As the sole candidate for the party, Adeleke’s emergence was widely anticipated, reflecting his continued popularity and influence within Osun politics.

The primary saw the accreditation of 150 delegates, with five ballots invalidated, leaving a total of 145 valid votes.

At the end of the voting and counting exercise, Governor Adeleke emerged victorious, garnering all 145 valid votes.

This result officially confirms him as the Accord Party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.

Hajia Mariam Saleh, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, who was represented by Secretary Abulazeez Salaudeen, announced the results.

She stated that the committee had fulfilled its mandate to ensure a transparent, free, and fair primary election.

The voting and counting processes were conducted under the observation of party agents and INEC representatives, further reinforcing the credibility of the primary exercise.

Following his nomination, the Accord Party National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, presented Governor Adeleke with the official party flag and a certificate of candidacy.

In his remarks, Mgbudem commended Adeleke for his achievements in office and encouraged him to continue his developmental agenda while campaigning for a second term.

“Governor Adeleke’s leadership has been exemplary. We urge him to maintain his commitment to progress as he seeks re-election under the Accord Party banner,” Mgbudem said.

Governor Adeleke, in his acceptance speech, expressed profound gratitude to the party, its members, and the electoral committee for recognizing his capability to lead.

He called on all party supporters and the electorate at large to vote for the Accord Party in the 2026 governorship election.

“I accept my nomination as the candidate of the Accord Party for the Osun 2026 governorship election. The confidence you have placed in me will not be regretted,” Adeleke affirmed.

Adeleke also highlighted the significance of his candidacy, framing it as a continuation of the progress achieved in Osun State.

“My governorship election campaign represents the sustained journey of development that has positively transformed our state,” he said.

The governor emphasized that the people of Osun would never return to the dark days of broken promises, underlining his commitment to stability, good governance, and accountability.

Political analysts note that Adeleke’s endorsement by the Accord Party has strategic implications.

With the backing of a respected party, his candidacy consolidates support from grassroots structures while sending a clear message to opposition forces that the will of the people has prevailed.

The 2026 governorship election is shaping up as a contest where development, continuity, and proven governance will be central themes.

The Accord Party has steadily gained traction in Osun State, positioning itself as a credible alternative to the more established political parties.

By rallying behind Governor Adeleke, the party underscores its commitment to a governance agenda focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare programs.

Analysts believe this alliance enhances Adeleke’s chances of securing a decisive mandate in the forthcoming election.

During his tenure, Governor Adeleke has initiated and completed multiple infrastructure projects, improved healthcare delivery systems, and strengthened security across Osun State.

His administration has also prioritized educational reforms, expanding access to schools and scholarships for underprivileged students.

These achievements have strengthened his appeal to voters and provided a solid foundation for his 2026 governorship election campaign.

Moreover, Adeleke’s leadership style, characterized by inclusivity and responsiveness to the needs of citizens, continues to earn him accolades both locally and nationally.

As Osun State prepares for the 2026 governorship election, all eyes will remain on Governor Adeleke’s campaign strategies, public engagements, and policy priorities.
