Governor Alex Otti grants automatic civil service jobs to Abia NYSC awardees, rewarding excellence and inspiring youth across the state and nation.
Abia State is making headlines for its proactive approach in rewarding youth excellence.
Governor Alex Otti recently announced Abia NYSC awardees employment, offering automatic civil service positions to nine former NYSC members who earned the prestigious Presidential Honour Awards.
This initiative highlights the state’s dedication to recognizing talent and fostering opportunities for young professionals.
The announcement was made during a cordial reception at the Governor’s office, where six of the awardees were present alongside NYSC State Coordinator Gladys Adama.
Governor Otti instructed the State Head of Service to issue appointment letters promptly, ensuring the awardees could start work once documentation was complete.

“On behalf of the state government, we are temporarily lifting the employment freeze to recruit you, unless anyone chooses otherwise,” Governor Otti said.
“Your achievements during your service year have brought national recognition, and we expect you to carry forward this standard of excellence in your civil service roles.”
Nwogu Chinomso of Obingwa LGA spoke on behalf of the awardees, expressing heartfelt appreciation.
“Your Excellency, we are truly honored. Your leadership inspires us, and we pray that God continues to grant you wisdom to guide Abia State,” he said.
The sentiment reflected the shared determination of the awardees to contribute meaningfully to the state’s growth and development.
NYSC State Coordinator Gladys Adama noted that the nine recipients were selected from over 100 candidates nationwide. Most of them served far from home, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
While one was posted in the eastern region, the rest served in northern states. Their dedication earned them the NYSC Presidential Honour Awards and brought pride to Abia State.
