OIC Investment Forum in Africa 2025: Unlocking the Continent’s Investment Potential

BAMAKO, Mali – The OIC Investment Forum in Africa is set to take place from December 2–4, 2025, in Bamako, Mali, positioning African OIC Member States as prime destinations for trade and investment. Organized by the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank Group and its Business Forum (THIQAH), and with support from the Republic of Mali, the Forum will gather ministers, CEOs, investors, financial institutions, and multilateral organizations to explore the continent’s enormous economic potential.

Africa’s unique combination of a youthful population, abundant natural resources, and strategic geographic location makes it a hub of untapped investment opportunities.

The OIC Investment Forum in Africa will focus on sectors including agribusiness, mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, textiles, tourism, banking, and manufacturing, highlighting the continent’s evolving investment landscape.

Over the past decade, many African OIC Member States have undertaken bold reforms to strengthen the investment climate and enhance competitiveness.

While these measures have already yielded positive results, significant untapped potential remains.

The post-pandemic era presents a critical window to accelerate intra-OIC investment flows and harness Africa’s resources through stronger partnerships with the private sector, development banks, and international investors.

Key Objectives of the Forum

The OIC Investment Forum in Africa aims to:

Identify barriers to investment and provide actionable policy recommendations.

Showcase high-potential, bankable projects across African OIC Member States.

Facilitate direct dialogue between governments, investors, and financial institutions.

Promote public-private partnerships and intra-OIC trade and investment.

Support SME development, youth entrepreneurship, and women’s economic empowerment.

Leverage Islamic finance and innovative financial instruments to drive sustainable growth.

A Platform for Collaboration and Action

Participants at the OIC Investment Forum in Africa will benefit from high-level panels addressing sectoral opportunities, investment climate, and financing mechanisms.

The event will feature thematic roundtables, exhibitions of investment institutions and services, and extensive networking sessions connecting investors with policymakers and development partners.

Additionally, the Forum will launch an OIC Think Tank on Investment in Africa and a comprehensive database of African OIC projects, providing a lasting platform for sustainable investment engagement across the continent.

OIC Investment Forum in Africa

Strengthening Africa’s Position in Intra-OIC Trade

In recent years, OIC countries have shown resilience in attracting investment, maintaining momentum beyond pre-pandemic levels.

Africa remains a region with vast untapped potential, and the OIC Investment Forum in Africa is designed to convert these opportunities into concrete economic growth.

By uniting capital, expertise, and innovation, the Forum will act as a catalyst for transformative development and further strengthen Africa’s role in intra-OIC trade and investment.

The Forum underscores the importance of strategic collaboration between African governments, the ICDT, the OIC General Secretariat, the Islamic Development Bank Group, and other international partners.

Through such initiatives, Africa’s investment story is being rewritten, demonstrating that the continent is ready for significant economic expansion and global investor engagement.
