The Federal Government intensifies Kebbi schoolgirls rescue, pledging full state support, swift action, and justice for victims and families.

The Federal Government has renewed its commitment to the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue, vowing to employ every available instrument of state to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and bring their attackers to justice.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, visited Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday to express the nation’s sympathy to the families of the kidnapped girls, the late Brigadier-General Musa Uba, and the slain vice principal of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga.

In his address, Shettima emphasized that the President is deeply troubled by the abduction and killings, describing them as not just a regional tragedy but a violation of Nigeria’s collective conscience.

“Kebbi’s pain is Nigeria’s pain,” he said. “When criminals seize innocent girls in their classroom, the conscience of our nation is assaulted. Our top priority is the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue, and we will not rest until they are safely returned home.”

Shettima assured that the Federal Government is united and resolute, making the rescue of the abducted students a matter that transcends politics, party affiliation, and geography.

“This is not a moment for politics,” he stressed. “It is a moment for action, empathy, and national unity. Every effort will be made to ensure that our daughters come back safely to their families.”

The Vice President also paid tribute to Brigadier-General Musa Uba, describing his death as a profound national loss.

“When a soldier lays down his life in defense of the nation, a part of our collective soul is touched,” Shettima said.

“His sacrifice, like that of the slain vice principal and other victims, will never be forgotten. The Federal Government will support their families through this difficult time.”

Acknowledging the vital role of state and community actors, Shettima commended Governor Muhammed Nasir Idris, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society partners, and local vigilante groups.

Their vigilance and cooperation, he said, are indispensable to the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue and the broader safety of communities in the state.

The Vice President also recognized the bravery of Nigeria’s security agencies, including the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary and intelligence organizations.

“Your courage and tireless dedication often go unseen, yet you remain the backbone of our nation’s security. You stand on the frontlines so the rest of us may sleep in hope. Nigeria appreciates you,” he said.

Shettima outlined that enhanced intelligence coordination, improved operational logistics, and increased inter-agency collaboration are being deployed to accelerate the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue.

He further urged communities to remain vigilant, cooperate with security forces, and report any suspicious activities, assuring them that the Federal Government is committed to ending such attacks on schools.

The event drew prominent leaders and officials, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nantawe Yitwada; Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Iman Suleiman Ibrahim; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Bernard Fori; and Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Tanko Sununu Yusuf.

Also present were members of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, former Governor Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, Senator Bala Ibn Na Allah, Director General of NEMA Hajiya Zubaida Umar, Secretary to the Kebbi State Government Yakubu Bala, senior government officials, and heads of military and paramilitary agencies.

Their presence highlighted the nationwide commitment to resolving the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue crisis.

Throughout his speech, Shettima emphasized that the Federal Government’s response is holistic, encompassing intelligence operations, security deployment, humanitarian support, and community engagement.

He reiterated that the Kebbi schoolgirls rescue remains a top national priority, and the administration will ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.

In conclusion, Shettima’s visit and statements sought to reassure the families of the abducted girls, the people of Kebbi State, and the nation at large that no effort will be spared in restoring the safety and security of students and schools across Nigeria.

The ongoing cooperation between federal authorities, state officials, and local communities is central to achieving the safe return of the students and preventing future attacks.

The Kebbi schoolgirls rescue continues to serve as a solemn reminder of the need for unity, vigilance, and unwavering commitment from all stakeholders.

The Federal Government’s pledge reflects a clear message: the safety of Nigerian children is non-negotiable, and the fight against school abductions will remain relentless until every child is secure and justice is delivered.
