Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved a series of new appointments into critical positions within his administration, including a new Deputy Chief of Staff and heads of strategic institutions in the state.

Leading the list of appointees is Honourable Adeyinka Kazim Adeniyi, popularly known as “Bibire”, who has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor.
His appointment follows the resignation of Honourable Fola Sunday Oyekunle, who recently emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.
In a formal announcement contained in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, the Governor also approved the immediate dissolution of the board of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), one of the state’s iconic football clubs.
In its place, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami has been appointed as the new chairman of the board, tasked with repositioning the club for greater success.
Similarly, in a bid to strengthen the state’s security architecture, Governor Makinde appointed Honourable Kabiru Salami, a retired senior police officer, as his Executive Assistant on Security Coordination.
Salami is expected to leverage his wealth of experience in security matters to support the government’s ongoing efforts in ensuring peace and safety across the state.
Also included in the new appointments is Honourable Waheed Adeniyi, who has been named the new Chairman of the Oyo State Waste Management Authority (OYOWMA). His role will focus on enhancing waste disposal strategies and environmental sanitation within the state.
Governor Makinde, while congratulating the appointees, urged them to consider their appointments as a call to selfless service.
He charged them to demonstrate utmost commitment and dedication to their respective responsibilities, noting that the state government remains focused on delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State.
All appointments take immediate effect.
The new development was made public through a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Monday, July 7, 2025.
