Customs Command Generates N2bn Revenue in February

The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Command, has announced that it generated a total revenue of N2 billion in February. This achievement is a significant milestone for the command, which has been working tirelessly to ensure compliance with customs regulations and prevent smuggling activities

According to the Customs Area Controller, Joseph Adelaja, the command generated N2 billion in revenue in February, with N165 million coming from anti-smuggling activities. Adelaja attributed the success to effective intelligence sharing and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

During the same period, the command intercepted various contrabands, including foreign parboiled rice, cannabis sativa, used tyres, used clothes, and used compressors. The total duty-paid value of the seized items was N468 million.

The seizures included:

• – 2,030 bags of foreign rice valued at N223 million
  – 28 bales of used clothes worth N20 million
  – One bale of used shoes, worth N420,000
  – 28 pieces of used refrigerator compressors worth N1.7 million
  – Eight used air-condition compressors valued at N252,000
  – 167 pieces of used tyres worth N16 million
  – 167 litres of premium motor spirit worth N4.5 million
  – 660 kg of cannabis sativa valued at N21.7 million

The Customs Area Controller emphasized that the command has continued to intensify its efforts in anti-smuggling activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and safeguarding the nation’s economic interests. Adelaja warned that the command would not hesitate to enforce necessary compliance against smugglers who engage in illegal activities.

The command has urged relevant stakeholders and patriotic citizens to continue extending their maximum support and cooperation in the fight against smuggling and other illegal activities.
