West Ham United have completed the signing of experienced English striker Callum Wilson on a one-year contract.
The 33-year-old was a free agent after leaving Newcastle United at the end of last season, following the expiration of his contract and an unsuccessful round of renewal talks.
Wilson made just 18 Premier League appearances last term, having fallen behind Alexander Isak in the pecking order at St. James’ Park. Despite limited game time, he remained a sought-after name, attracting interest from other Premier League sides as well as clubs in Major League Soccer.
The former Bournemouth and Newcastle forward passed a medical on Saturday and has now officially joined the Hammers ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“I’m excited to be joining a massive football club like West Ham,” Wilson told the club’s media. “A club that shares a similar passion to mine—hard work, dedication, and a desire for success—so I’m glad to be a part of it.”
“There’s such talent within the squad. And obviously the gaffer [Graham Potter] has come in now—he’s making everybody a team, all working in the same direction to achieve the goal, which is to finish as high as possible in the league.”
Wilson brings a wealth of Premier League experience to the London Stadium. He scored 49 goals in 130 appearances for Newcastle after arriving in a £20 million move from Bournemouth in 2020. He also earned nine international caps for the Three Lions of England between 2018 and 2023.
His arrival adds depth and experience to a West Ham side undergoing a summer rebuild under new manager Graham Potter.
The Hammers have already added Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Daniel Cummings to the squad, and are continuing talks over a potential move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey before the transfer window closes.
