JUST IN: BCOS staff protest over salary delays, deductions, alleged poor leadership

Tension reportedly rises at BCOS as staff protest alleged welfare concerns, delayed salaries and deductions, with no official response from management or union.

Staff members of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) have allegedly staged a protest over what they described as poor leadership, delays in the payment of salaries and concerns surrounding unfulfilled deductions.

The reported protest, which occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, is said to have been triggered by growing dissatisfaction among some workers over issues affecting their welfare and working conditions.

Sources familiar with the development alleged that the affected staff members expressed frustration over delayed salary payments, deductions reportedly made from their earnings but not adequately accounted for, as well as concerns about the leadership and administration of the corporation.

The protest reportedly drew attention to the workers’ demands for improved welfare, greater transparency in the handling of staff deductions and prompt payment of salaries.

However, details surrounding the protest remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report, and the full demands of the protesting workers could not immediately be independently verified.

As of the time of this report, neither the BCOS management nor the workers’ union has issued an official statement on the reported protest or the allegations raised by the staff.

Efforts to reach relevant officials for clarification and an official response were also not successful as of press time.

This publication will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information, including official reactions from the BCOS management or the workers’ union, becomes available.
