Ayorinde Adisa emerges as BCOS NUP chairman

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Broadcasting Cooperation of Oyo State (BCOS) Chapter, has concluded its elections, electing Asiwaju Ayorinde Adisa as the new chairman, following a highly contested poll among members.

The election, held on February 26th, saw candidates from the Like-Minds Group emerge victorious, signaling a fresh chapter in the leadership of the union.

Election Results by Position

The official results of the election are as follows:

Chairman: Ayorinde Adisa – 94 votes; Adeyemo – 50; Asudemade – 18; Ajewumi – 4

Vice Chairman: Oluwole Ogunkanmi – 101; Adepoju – 60

Secretary: Biodun Ipadeola – 102 votes; Orokotun – 56 votes

Treasurer: Wojuola Adeniyi – 106; Akinwale – 50

Auditor: Femi Ogunkunle – 104; Adeyemo – 42


Others contesting as ex-officios are Akinlawon Alabi(Retired Security Officer),Alhaji Muniru Popoola(Retired Chief Driver/ Mechanic)
Mrs.Bola Adeyemo(Retired Chief Typist),
Mrs Titi Ayorinde(Retired Chief Typist),
and Reverend Samuel Adebiyi contesting as Trustee.

Letter of Intent Highlights

In a letter of intent submitted ahead of the elections, Biodun Ipadeola, NUP Secretary, formally announced the Like-Minds Group’s decision to contest as a team.

“We are contesting the elections as a team because we believe in the power of synergy and collective action,” he stated.

The group outlined their agenda, which includes the completion of the Pensioners Hall premises, timely collection of entitlements, and other welfare programs aimed at improving the lives of union members.

About the New Chairman: Ayorinde Adisa

Ayorinde Adisa, former treasurer of the union, emerged as the team’s candidate for chairman.

A retired Director with over 28 years of experience in finance and audit, Adisa is a seasoned Chartered Accountant with a record of integrity and professionalism.

He has been actively involved in union affairs for the past four years and represents NUP in the Association of Nigeria Union of Pensioners of State Government Statutory Corporations (Parastatals), Oyo State Branch.

Adisa is widely recognized for his prudent management of union finances and commitment to transparency.

Team Members: Experience and Integrity

The Like-Minds Group emphasized that their candidates are seasoned professionals with proven records of service:

Oluwole Ogunkanmi (Vice Chairman) – a man of honour and dedication, responsible for assisting in strategic leadership.

Biodun Ipadeola (Secretary) – retired Deputy Director in News/Current Affairs, former NUJ BCOS Chapel Secretary, and award-winning journalist.

Wojuola Adeniyi (Treasurer) – trusted and reliable, ensuring the union’s finances are well-managed.

Femi Ogunkunle (Auditor) – holder of an MBA from OAU, Ife, and graduate member of CIPSMN, with an unblemished record.

Commitment to Service

In their statement, the team pledged: “Good governance is in our hands. We are physically fit, emotionally stable, and spiritually equipped to serve. We are aware of the challenges ahead and ready to surmount them.”

The election results mark a significant step toward consolidating progress within the BCOS Chapter of NUP, with members optimistic about renewed leadership and strengthened welfare initiatives.
