The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its local government congresses in Edo State, producing a fresh set of party executives across the state’s 18 local government areas.

The exercise, which followed weeks of consultations and internal negotiations, was described by party officials as peaceful, coordinated and reflective of unity within the fold.
Across the councils, members endorsed candidates who had earlier emerged through consensus arrangements.
Instead of heated contests or factional disputes, delegates affirmed agreed leaders in what party stakeholders called a deliberate move to preserve stability and strengthen internal cohesion.
The process, according to observers, signals the determination of the APC to consolidate its grassroots machinery ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Supervising the exercise was the state Acting Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, who monitored proceedings alongside other senior figures.
Addressing journalists shortly after the congresses, Tenebe commended party members for demonstrating discipline and maturity throughout the exercise.
He noted that the orderly conduct of the congresses underscores the growing unity within the APC in Edo.
Tenebe stressed that the peaceful outcome must translate into broader political gains.
According to him, the real measure of success will not only be internal harmony but also performance at the polls in the forthcoming general elections.
He urged the newly elected local government executives to see their emergence as a responsibility to expand the party’s reach and deepen engagement at ward and community levels.
The acting chairman further charged leaders to intensify efforts in promoting the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He explained that party structures at the grassroots must work strategically to ensure that federal policies and programmes resonate with residents across Edo’s rural and urban communities.
For the APC, he said, governance and party organization must move hand in hand.
Highlighting developments in the state, Tenebe praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, describing it as forward-looking and reform-driven.
He argued that ongoing initiatives in infrastructure and governance have positioned Edo as a model among progressive states.
According to him, it is now the duty of party executives to amplify these achievements and translate them into electoral confidence.
The APC leadership also expressed appreciation to members for what it described as unwavering support and commitment.
Tenebe noted that the high level of civility witnessed during the congresses reflects a shared vision among stakeholders.
He added that internal organization remains the backbone of sustainable political growth.
Speaking separately, the Chairman of the Edo Local Government and Ward Congresses Committee, Kabiru Ajana, confirmed that the exercise was conducted without disruption.
Reports collated from the 18 local governments indicated compliance with party guidelines and cooperation among members.
Ajana emphasized that early consultations and consensus-building played a key role in preventing disputes.
Political analysts suggest that the smooth conduct of the congresses may boost confidence among party faithful and potential supporters.
A stable internal framework, they argue, positions the APC to focus on policy communication, voter mobilization and strategic planning ahead of the elections.
By resolving leadership questions early, the party can channel its energy toward outreach and campaign preparation.
Grassroots mobilization remains central to the APC’s strategy in Edo. Newly elected executives are expected to strengthen ward structures, coordinate membership drives and foster closer ties with community leaders.
Party insiders say the emphasis will be on inclusiveness, ensuring that youths and women play visible roles in decision-making processes.
Beyond structural consolidation, the congresses also served as a symbolic demonstration of unity.
In previous political cycles, internal disagreements sometimes weakened party formations.
However, stakeholders believe the consensus approach adopted this time reflects lessons learned and a shared commitment to stability.
Tenebe cautioned that celebration should be measured. He reminded members that political momentum can only be sustained through continuous engagement with voters.
According to him, the APC must demonstrate responsiveness to citizens’ concerns, particularly in areas of economic development, social welfare and infrastructure delivery.
As preparations gradually begin for the next general elections, party leaders insist that the foundation laid through the congresses will prove decisive.
With executives now in place across all local governments, coordination between state and grassroots levels is expected to improve significantly.
For supporters, the message is clear: unity within the APC is not an end in itself but a means toward broader electoral success.
The coming months will test the party’s ability to convert internal harmony into public trust and votes at the ballot box.
