Angélique Kidjo announces star-studded ‘Hope!!’ album featuring Davido, Ayra Starr and global music icons

Angélique Kidjo unveils ‘Hope!!’ album featuring Afrobeat stars

Grammy-winning Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo has announced the release of her 19th studio project titled “Hope!!”, a new album that brings together several Afrobeat stars and international music heavyweights in a cross-cultural collaboration that highlights Africa’s growing influence on the global music stage.

The Hope!! album is scheduled for worldwide release on April 24, 2026, and will feature a blend of African and international artists including Davido, Ayra Starr, and The Cavemen. The project marks another milestone in Kidjo’s decades-long career of fusing traditional African sounds with contemporary global genres.

Industry observers say the Hope!! album reflects the continued global rise of Afrobeat and African music, as collaborations between African artists and international performers become increasingly common.

A personal story behind the Hope!! album

Kidjo revealed that the Hope!! album is deeply personal, as it is dedicated to her late mother, Yvonne, who passed away five years ago. According to the singer, the album carries a message of resilience, optimism, and gratitude inspired by the values her mother instilled in her.

The veteran performer explained that the project took nearly five years to complete, with several artists contributing their talents across different musical styles.

For Kidjo, the Hope!! album is more than just a collection of songs. She described it as a tribute to family, culture, and the enduring power of hope in difficult times.

The album will contain 14 tracks, combining Afrobeat, soul, R&B, funk, jazz, and elements of Latin music. These influences reflect Kidjo’s signature style of blending African musical traditions with contemporary global sounds.

Global collaborations shape the Hope!! album

Beyond its African collaborators, the Hope!! album will also feature a strong lineup of international musicians. Among them are Pharrell Williams, legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers, American rapper Quavo, R&B singer Charlie Wilson, Congolese star Fally Ipupa, Tanzanian hitmaker Diamond Platnumz, and gospel group Soweto Gospel Choir.

Other artists featured on the project include PJ Morton, Brazilian pop singer IZA, French vocalist Florent Pagny, and French-Congolese performer Dadju.

Music analysts say the diverse lineup demonstrates the wide appeal of African music across continents and reinforces the role of Afrobeat as one of the fastest-growing global music genres.

Renewed partnership with Davido

One of the notable collaborations on the Hope!! album is Kidjo’s renewed partnership with Davido. The two artists have previously worked together on several projects, including Kidjo’s track “Joy” and Davido’s song “Na Money” from his 2023 album Timeless.

Their latest collaboration continues a musical relationship that has brought together Kidjo’s Afro-pop and world music expertise with Davido’s contemporary Afrobeat sound.

Observers believe that the partnership highlights the evolving relationship between established African legends and younger Afrobeat stars who are redefining the continent’s music industry.

Building on the success of Mother Nature

The Hope!! album follows Kidjo’s critically acclaimed 2021 album Mother Nature, which won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album.
That project featured several African artists and addressed themes such as environmental protection, cultural identity, and social responsibility. Music critics widely praised the album for blending traditional African rhythms with modern production techniques.

With the upcoming Hope!! album, Kidjo appears to continue exploring themes of unity, resilience, and cultural exchange.

Global anticipation ahead of the album release
Kidjo officially announced the Hope!! album through a post on her social media platforms, where she also shared details about the album’s collaborators and its dedication to her mother.

Fans around the world have already begun anticipating the release, particularly due to the mix of Afrobeat, world music, and international pop influences expected on the project.

Music industry analysts say the Hope!! album could further strengthen the global recognition of African music, especially as Afrobeat artists continue to dominate streaming charts and international festivals.

The album will be available on major digital streaming platforms globally upon release.
As the April 2026 launch date approaches, the Hope!! album is expected to generate significant attention across Africa and the international music industry, reinforcing Kidjo’s legacy as one of the continent’s most influential musical ambassadors.
