A Maryland cornhole player has been arrested and charged with murder after police alleged that a fatal shooting occurred during an argument inside a moving vehicle.
Authorities identified the suspect as Dayton James Webber, a 27-year-old professional cornhole player, who is also a quadruple amputee after surviving a life-threatening infection as an infant.
According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place in La Plata, Maryland, where an argument between individuals inside a car escalated into violence.
Police allege that Webber was driving the vehicle when the shooting occurred, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old passenger identified as Bradrick Michael Wells.
Following the shooting, witnesses reported that Webber stopped the car and asked passengers to help remove the victim from the vehicle, but they refused and alerted law enforcement instead.
Authorities say Webber then fled the scene with the victim still inside the car, prompting a search that ended when a body was discovered about 10 miles away in Charlotte Hall.
Emergency responders later confirmed the victim’s death at the scene, while investigators worked to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the fatal incident.
Webber was later arrested in Virginia and charged as a fugitive from justice, with authorities in Maryland seeking his extradition to face charges.
