The Naija5Fest project has taken a bold step toward transforming grassroots sports in Nigeria by holding a strategic high-level meeting with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development.
This engagement underscores the festival’s commitment to youth empowerment, talent discovery, and fostering cultural unity through sports.
Last month, Naija5Fest officially launched its groundbreaking 5-Aside National Football Tournament, spanning all 36 states of Nigeria.
The tournament is designed not only to entertain but to empower young Nigerians, cultivate sporting talent, and strengthen local communities.
By combining sports and culture, Naija5Fest has positioned itself as a key catalyst for sustainable grassroots development.
The Abuja meeting brought together Naija5Fest leaders, including Mr. Patrick OSEK, Convener; Amb. Oluwatobi Ogunbayo, Chairman of the Planning Committee; and Hon. Emmanuel Udomoh, Director of Strategy.
They were warmly received by Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development.
Discussions focused on aligning the festival’s initiatives with national objectives for youth engagement, community development, and the long-term growth of grassroots sports.
During the strategic session, the delegation explored ways to create enduring platforms for talent discovery, while emphasizing the role of sports in promoting cultural cohesion.
The team highlighted the importance of positioning Naija5Fest as a sustainable program that not only celebrates Nigerian heritage but also nurtures the next generation of athletes from local communities.
Speaking after the meeting, Amb. Oluwatobi Ogunbayo, an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat, Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency expressed optimism about the collaboration.
“Our engagement with the Presidency demonstrates the seriousness of Naija5Fest.
“With the support of Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka, we are confident that this initiative will redefine how grassroots talent is identified, nurtured, and celebrated nationwide,” he said.
Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka commended the vision behind Naija5Fest and reaffirmed his office’s commitment to supporting the festival.
“This project aligns perfectly with our mandate to develop grassroots sports, empower youth, and create pathways for talent to thrive.
“We are eager to collaborate fully to ensure the festival delivers lasting impact,” he noted.
Mr. Patrick OSEK, the Convener, reiterated the festival’s mission to remain authentic and impactful at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, Hon. Emmanuel Udomoh emphasized that strategic alignment with the government would guarantee a well-structured and widely accessible festival.
Together, they underscored that Naija5Fest is more than a sports event—it is a platform for youth empowerment, cultural celebration, and community engagement.
The festival promises an unprecedented blend of sports, culture, and entertainment, aiming to inspire young Nigerians while fostering a sense of unity and national pride.
Organizers have also indicated plans to expand programs that provide training, mentorship, and exposure for emerging athletes.
