Osun court remands suspects over ritual killing of FRSC officer, daughter

Osun ritual killing case involving an FRSC officer and her daughter deepens as a magistrate orders the remand of three suspects pending legal advice.

Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the remand of three suspects arrested in connection with a high-profile homicide involving a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter.

FRSC officer and daughter murder

The case, which has drawn widespread public attention, is now formally before the court as investigators await legal direction from the Ministry of Justice.

The suspects—Gboyega Daramola, 39; Sunday James, 38; and Fajemirokun Victor, 36—were arraigned on Friday before Magistrate O. A. Daramola.

The matter, filed under suit number MoS/M-53/2026, relates to the alleged killing of Lasisi Oluwamayokun, an officer attached to the Ogun State Command of the FRSC, and her 10-year-old daughter, Adesewa.

During the proceedings, the Osun State Commissioner of Police filed a motion ex parte, requesting that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility pending the receipt of legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The application was brought pursuant to the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Osun State, 2018, which requires judicial authorization for continued detention in cases of this nature.

An affidavit in support of the motion was sworn to by the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Babawale Taiwo.

The affidavit outlined the sequence of events that led to the arrest of the suspects and detailed the scope of the ongoing investigation in the Osun ritual killing case.

According to the police account, the matter initially came to light on November 10, 2025, when two residents of Alekuwodo area in Osogbo—Oluwafemi Fajemirokun and Mariam Fajemirokun—reported the disappearance of their younger brother, Victor Fajemirokun Emmanuel.

They informed officers at the Ikoyi Police Divisional Headquarters that he had left Osogbo on November 2, 2025, purportedly to participate in prayer activities at Ikoyi Prayer Mountain.

As detectives intensified efforts to trace the missing man, investigators uncovered another troubling development.

Police records revealed that Oluwamayokun and her daughter had also gone missing on the same day.

The victims, who were residents of Obasanjo Hilltop Estate in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, were reported to have left their home and never returned.

Further investigation, according to the affidavit, established a connection between the missing persons cases.

The police alleged that evidence gathered during the inquiry pointed to Victor Fajemirokun as a central figure in the deaths of the FRSC officer and her child.

Investigators claimed that the victims were lured under false pretences before they were killed in Osun State.

The affidavit further alleged that the crime was linked to ritual activities, with the suspects accused of participating in or facilitating the act.

Police identified Victor Fajemirokun as the principal suspect in the Osun ritual killing case, while the remaining defendants were said to have played complementary roles.

In urging the court to grant the remand order, the police stated that investigations were still ongoing and that the DPP’s legal advice was required to determine the appropriate charges.

The prosecution maintained that releasing the suspects at this stage could jeopardise the investigation and undermine the pursuit of justice.

After reviewing the application and supporting documents, Magistrate Daramola granted the request and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre until February 6, 2026.

The court is expected to receive an update once the DPP concludes its review of the case file.

Beyond the courtroom, the case has left a trail of grief and outrage. The remains of Oluwamayokun and her daughter were laid to rest on Friday during a burial service held at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Ita-Olookan, Osogbo.

Family members, colleagues, and sympathisers attended the solemn ceremony to pay their final respects.

The tragic deaths had earlier been confirmed after police arrested Victor Fajemirokun, who was subsequently paraded alongside two alleged herbalists at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.

During the parade, police officials disclosed that the suspect allegedly admitted to luring the victims before they were killed.

The Osun ritual killing case has reignited public debate over ritual-related crimes, personal safety, and the vulnerability of individuals who fall prey to deception.

Civil society groups and concerned residents have called on law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and swift prosecution of those found culpable.

As the suspects remain in custody, many Nigerians are watching closely, hopeful that the judicial process will bring accountability and serve as a deterrent against similar crimes in the future.
