Oluwo urges Trump to apologise to Iran over support for Israel

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has called on United States President Donald Trump to apologise to Iran for what he described as Washington’s open alignment with Israel in the escalating conflict between the two nations.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday, the monarch faulted the US government’s role in the hostilities, arguing that global powers should prioritise mediation over partisanship during international crises.

He characterised the confrontation as avoidable and warned that continued military engagement could deepen geopolitical instability and strain the global economy.

Oluwo Apologise to Iran Call Sparks Global Debate

The monarch’s Oluwo Apologise to Iran call has drawn attention both locally and internationally, particularly as it comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions and reports of casualties on both sides of the divide.

Oba Akanbi described the reported assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, as a development capable of worsening already fragile international relations. According to him, targeting the head of a sovereign nation raises serious moral and legal questions under international law.

While expressing admiration for the United States, the royal father maintained that neutrality remains the hallmark of responsible global leadership. He stressed that superpowers should function as stabilising forces rather than active participants in armed disputes.

“I love America,” the monarch said, “but global leadership demands restraint and balanced judgment. Peace achieves far more than war.”

Concerns Over Economic Fallout

Beyond political implications, the monarch warned of immediate economic consequences arising from the conflict. He noted that air travel disruptions, rising oil prices and investor uncertainty were already affecting international markets.

According to him, the ripple effects of the crisis extend beyond the Middle East, with developing economies particularly vulnerable to supply chain interruptions and inflationary pressures.

Analysts have similarly cautioned that prolonged hostilities between Iran and Israel could trigger broader regional instability, affecting trade routes and energy exports critical to global commerce.

Sovereignty and International Law

The Oluwo Apologise to Iran appeal also touched on the principle of sovereignty. Oba Akanbi argued that every nation, regardless of size or influence, deserves respect for its territorial integrity and political independence.

He questioned the legality of unilateral military interventions and emphasised that international disputes should be resolved through diplomacy, negotiation and multilateral engagement.

His position aligns in part with comments attributed to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who reportedly described the strikes as inconsistent with international law while urging de-escalation.

The monarch insisted that world powers must avoid actions capable of setting dangerous precedents, warning that retaliatory cycles could spiral beyond control.

“America Has Lost Credibility”

In his statement, Oba Akanbi suggested that America risks diminishing its moral authority on the global stage if it is perceived as taking sides in conflicts where it could instead serve as an arbiter.
He argued that a nation widely regarded as a global referee should not openly align with one party in a bilateral war without exhausting diplomatic channels.

The Oluwo Apologise to Iran position, he said, is rooted not in hostility toward the United States or Israel but in a desire for global equilibrium and sustainable peace.

He further maintained that powerful nations demonstrate strength not only through military capability but also through strategic restraint and moral leadership.

Call for Immediate De-escalation

The monarch urged all parties to prioritise dialogue and cease hostilities before the crisis deepens. He warned that sustained warfare would only amplify humanitarian suffering and economic dislocation.

According to him, reconciliation efforts should begin with acknowledgment of grievances and diplomatic outreach. He reiterated that an apology, as proposed in the Oluwo Apologise to Iran call, would symbolise willingness to restore trust and reduce tensions.

Oluwo Apologise to Iran

Foreign policy observers note that symbolic gestures often play a critical role in resetting diplomatic relationships, particularly in high-stakes geopolitical confrontations.

Broader Implications for Global Order

The unfolding Iran-Israel confrontation has sparked broader conversations about shifting power dynamics and the evolving architecture of global governance.

Oba Akanbi contended that the credibility of international institutions depends on consistent application of international norms. Selective enforcement, he warned, undermines confidence in the global rules-based system.

He concluded that durable peace requires fairness, accountability and mutual respect among nations.

As diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes, the Oluwo Apologise to Iran appeal adds a prominent Nigerian royal voice to the growing chorus urging de-escalation and renewed commitment to international law.

Whether Washington will respond to such calls remains uncertain, but the debate underscores the far-reaching implications of the Iran-Israel conflict on global diplomacy, economic stability and perceptions of world leadership.
