A disturbing incident has thrown residents of the Kidnawi 2 area in Maraban Gurku, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State into fear after suspected kidnappers stormed a home and abducted a newborn baby from a teenage mother.
The tragic event, which occurred late on Saturday night, March 28, 2026, has intensified concerns over rising insecurity in parts of Nasarawa, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities where response time from security agencies is often delayed.
According to available information, the young mother, 19-year-old Aisha, was sleeping with her infant in her room when the attackers struck at about 11:00 p.m. The sudden invasion left the household in shock and chaos.
Residents say the Nasarawa attack appeared to have been carefully executed, as the assailants reportedly moved quietly before forcing their way into the room.

Aisha narrated that she was awakened by a loud bang on her door, but before she could comprehend what was happening, two armed men had already entered her room.
In her emotional account, she explained that one of the men grabbed her by the neck and covered her mouth to stop her from screaming, while the second suspect immediately picked up her newborn baby and fled the scene.
The entire operation lasted only a few minutes, leaving her helpless and traumatized.
The incident has added to growing anxiety among residents of Nasarawa, who have repeatedly raised concerns about nighttime insecurity and the vulnerability of isolated homes.
Aisha further disclosed that she struggled to alert neighbours after the attackers fled, but help did not arrive quickly enough.
She also noted that her husband was not at home during the attack, as he was away in Lagos for work, leaving her alone with the baby at the time of the incident.
Community sources in Nasarawa revealed that many residents only became aware of the abduction after the attackers had already escaped to an unknown location.
The silence during the attack has raised questions about how the criminals managed to operate without immediate detection.
The community leader, Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo, confirmed the incident and stated that it had been officially reported to the police.
He added that security agencies have since launched investigations and search operations to track down the perpetrators and recover the missing child.
However, as of the time of this report, no breakthrough has been recorded in the ongoing search efforts within Nasarawa, despite intensified patrols and community alerts.
Neighbourhood residents have also joined in voluntary search efforts, combing nearby bushes and surrounding areas in hopes of finding any clue that could lead to the baby’s rescue.
Unfortunately, these efforts have so far not produced any positive result.
Security analysts note that this latest Nasarawa kidnapping incident highlights the urgent need for improved community policing, faster emergency response systems, and better surveillance in vulnerable settlements.
They further warn that cases involving children and infants are particularly alarming, as they often involve highly organized criminal networks that operate across local government boundaries.
As tension continues to rise, residents of Nasarawa are calling on authorities to strengthen night patrols, deploy rapid response units, and improve intelligence gathering to prevent similar incidents in the future.
For now, the family of the abducted child remains in deep distress, hoping for swift action that will lead to the safe return of the newborn and justice for those responsible.
