Adamawa police arrests 130 in crackdown on crime, trafficking

Adamawa Police Arrests and NDLEA operations lead to 130 suspects caught for kidnapping, robbery, homicide, rape, and drug trafficking across the state.

Adamawa Police arrests have intensified as security forces and NDLEA clamp down on 130 suspects involved in violent crimes, kidnappings, and drug trafficking.

The security landscape of Adamawa State witnessed a major breakthrough as two federal security agencies — the Nigeria Police Force and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) — announced the arrest of 130 suspects within a three-month period.

The Adamawa Police Command confirmed that it apprehended 72 suspects over the last quarter, while the NDLEA reported 58 arrests made in September 2025 alone.

Both agencies said the successes were possible due to enhanced surveillance, intelligence-led operations, and swift responses to crime reports.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, disclosed during a media briefing that the police arrested 72 individuals for various offences across the state.

Out of these, 57 suspects have already been charged to court, while investigations continue on 15 ongoing cases.

Breaking down the cases, the Commissioner explained that police operatives arrested suspects for:

Culpable homicide – 22 cases

Rape and sexual offences – 18 cases

Kidnapping – 9 cases

Theft – 9 cases

Armed robbery – 7 cases

Shilla Boys gangsterism – 4 cases

Abductions – 3 cases

He stressed that the Adamawa Police arrests demonstrate the command’s unwavering determination to reduce crime.

“We are committed to ensuring safety and justice. These arrests reflect the results of our proactive strategies and community engagement,” CP Morris said.

In a separate briefing, NDLEA Commander Aliyu Abubakar announced the arrest of 58 suspects in September 2025 alone. Among them were 56 men and two women.

The NDLEA also recorded major drug seizures, including:

366.808 kilograms of cannabis sativa

209.8 kilograms of psychotropic substances

11.6 kilograms of methamphetamine

To cut off trafficking networks, NDLEA operatives confiscated four vehicles and one motorcycle used in transporting narcotics.

In Mijilu village, Mubi North Local Government Area, the agency destroyed a six-hectare cannabis farm and arrested five suspects connected to the cultivation.

This action, according to Commander Abubakar, was part of a broader effort to dismantle drug supply chains fueling criminal activities in the region.

One of the most significant breakthroughs came with the arrest of two siblings notorious for cannabis trafficking.

The suspects were intercepted in Lamurde, southern Adamawa, while attempting to transport 500 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa from Akure, Ondo State, to Mubi.

Following their arrest, NDLEA operatives conducted a raid at their residence in Mubi. The search led to the recovery of an additional 40 blocks of cannabis sativa.

Commander Abubakar described the siblings as “longtime players in the illicit drug trade” and warned that traffickers would find no safe haven in Adamawa State.

The combined Adamawa Police Arrests and NDLEA operations are already disrupting criminal networks.

Communities that previously lived in fear of kidnappers, drug gangs, and violent offenders are beginning to experience relief.

Residents of Mubi North commended the destruction of cannabis farms, while community leaders in Yola and Jimeta praised police efforts against armed robbery and abduction.

Analysts point out that tackling both drug trafficking and violent crime simultaneously addresses two major roots of insecurity in the region.

The collaboration between the police and NDLEA is being described as a model for inter-agency synergy.

While the police tackle violent crimes like homicide, rape, and robbery, the NDLEA focuses on dismantling drug cartels that often sponsor or fuel such crimes.

According to CP Morris, the cases already in court will be pursued to their logical conclusion, while others remain under investigation.

Similarly, NDLEA confirmed that seized drugs would be destroyed according to legal procedures, while suspects would face prosecution.

Both agencies vowed to sustain the momentum. The NDLEA Commander reassured citizens: “Our mission is clear — to rid Adamawa of drugs and dismantle every cartel.”

CP Morris echoed the same determination, calling on the public to support law enforcement with timely intelligence.

“Security is a collective effort. The Adamawa Police Arrests are not just numbers; they represent lives saved and communities secured,” he said.

Experts warn, however, that sustaining these successes will require consistent funding, logistics, and community engagement. They argue that without these, criminal groups may quickly reorganize.

The Adamawa Police Arrests, coupled with NDLEA operations, mark one of the most aggressive security crackdowns in recent years.

With 130 suspects arrested, cannabis farms destroyed, drug cartels disrupted, and multiple cases charged to court, the state is taking firm steps toward restoring peace and order.

If the pace continues, Adamawa could soon serve as a model for other Nigerian states battling similar challenges.

For now, residents are hopeful that the intensified fight against crime and drugs will bring lasting safety and stability.
