Wike dismisses PDP pressure to contest 2027 presidency, restating loyalty to Tinubu and focus on advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly rejected rumours suggesting that some PDP leadership figures are pressuring him to contest the 2027 presidential election.
In a decisive statement, Wike dismisses PDP pressure as baseless, describing it as an attempt to drag him into unnecessary political controversy.
His Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, issued a statement on Saturday describing the report as “another fabrication from idle political minds who thrive on deceit and distraction.”
According to him, the story — published by an online platform notorious for falsehood — is a failed effort to create tension and misrepresent the Minister’s political position.

Olayinka emphasized that Wike dismisses PDP pressure narratives as pure fiction, stressing that the FCT Minister’s loyalty lies with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s developmental vision.
Reiterating Wike’s position, Olayinka declared that the Minister remains fully committed to the leadership of President Tinubu and has no presidential ambition for 2027.
“As far as Nyesom Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031. He does not operate in secrecy or double-speak — he is transparent about his commitments,” Olayinka stated.
He added that those promoting falsehoods about Wike’s presidential ambition are “pull-him-down” elements who underestimate his clarity of purpose and loyalty.
Olayinka further clarified that Wike dismisses PDP pressure because his focus is on supporting Tinubu’s agenda and delivering tangible progress in the FCT.
Speaking on the alleged PDP meeting where Wike was reportedly “endorsed” to contest the presidency, Olayinka dismissed the story as a gross misrepresentation.
He explained that the only meeting held on August 20, 2025, was that of PDP stakeholders from the southern region, convened to discuss internal party zoning arrangements — not a presidential push for Wike.
“The meeting discussed the proposed Lagos summit scheduled for August 21, 2025, which some groups intended to use to rubberstamp micro-zoning positions already allocated to the South,” Olayinka explained.
He added that the outcomes of the meeting were made public through a statement titled ‘Re: Purported Meeting of PDP Southern Zoning Consultative Summit.’
That statement was signed by PDP leaders from the South-East and South-South, including Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah, Venatius Ikem, Aniekan Akpan, Aaron Chukwuemeka, and others, proving transparency in the process.
The names of the signatories, including senators Mao Ohuabunwa, George Sekibo, Mike Ama Nnachi, and other party officials, were published in national newspapers — contradicting the claim that any secret endorsement of Wike took place.
“It is disappointing that certain groups would twist a public event into a baseless story just to malign the Minister’s reputation,” Olayinka said.
Olayinka stressed that the character and personality of the FCT Minister make it impossible for him to be involved in secret political dealings.
“Wike has nothing to hide. His loyalty to President Tinubu and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda are public knowledge,” he said.
He added that the goal of those circulating the rumour is to sow discord and create distrust between Wike and the ruling party. However, Wike dismisses PDP pressure firmly because he is focused on fulfilling his national assignment in Abuja.
“From now till 2031, the FCT Minister stands with President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria — that has been his consistent stance,” Olayinka reiterated.
Highlighting Wike’s current priorities, Olayinka noted that the Minister’s attention remains on advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda in the Federal Capital Territory.
He explained that Wike is committed to implementing President Tinubu’s blueprint for infrastructural development, urban renewal, and economic transformation in Abuja.
“Wike is delivering projects that are reshaping the capital city — from improved road networks to enhanced public utilities and housing. His mission is to make Abuja one of the most modern capitals in Africa,” Olayinka said.
The FCT Minister, he added, is driven by results and not political speculation. His commitment to performance and accountability continues to strengthen public confidence in the Tinubu administration’s promises.
Olayinka also assured that no amount of propaganda or political blackmail would derail the Minister’s focus.
“Those hoping to distract him with baseless rumours have failed. His goal is to deliver on the President’s vision and ensure the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he concluded.
Wike, known for his outspoken nature and strong leadership style, has often warned against propaganda-driven politics. According to Olayinka, Wike believes that responsible governance requires integrity, not hidden ambition.
“He is not interested in speculation or premature campaigns. What drives him is national development under President Tinubu’s guidance,” Olayinka said.
As the Minister continues to execute strategic urban projects and reforms in the FCT, analysts observe that Wike’s loyalty to the President remains unquestionable.
His collaboration with the Federal Government has already yielded significant infrastructure progress and policy coordination.
Wike dismisses PDP pressure as a false narrative designed to discredit him. His political loyalty, administrative focus, and alignment with President Tinubu’s long-term agenda remain steadfast.
