The immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has congratulated the Nigeria Super Eagles on their impressive 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali. Shaibu also extended his congratulations to the Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), praising the team’s performance as a significant boost for the players and Nigerians worldwide.
The Super Eagles’ win over Rwanda has revitalized their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. With this victory, Nigeria now has six points, just four points behind South Africa, who currently tops Group C. Shaibu emphasized the importance of collective support and prayers for the team, urging Nigerians to rally behind the Super Eagles as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday.
The match against Rwanda saw Victor Osimhen make a remarkable impact on his first outing in the campaign. Osimhen scored an impressive goal within the first 10 minutes of the game, setting the tone for Nigeria’s dominant performance. The goal was a result of a well-executed free-kick by Ademola Lookman, which Osimhen expertly connected with, leaving the Rwandan goalkeeper, Fiacre Ntwari, with no chance of saving.
Shaibu’s call for collective support and prayers for the Super Eagles is timely, as the team prepares to face Zimbabwe in a crucial match. With the team’s morale boosted by their win over Rwanda, Nigerians will be hoping that the Super Eagles can build on this momentum and secure a vital win against Zimbabwe.
As the Super Eagles continue their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, they will need all the support they can get. With Shaibu’s call for collective support and prayers, Nigerians can play a vital role in motivating the team to achieve their goal. As the team prepares to face Zimbabwe, Nigerians will be eagerly watching, hoping that the Super Eagles can emerge victorious and take one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup.
