NACCIMA champions stronger Nigeria-China collaboration to unlock trade, innovation growth

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has renewed calls for stronger Nigeria-China collaboration, emphasizing that a deepened bilateral relationship between both nations could unlock new pathways for trade expansion, industrial growth, and technological advancement.

The call came as NACCIMA’s Public Relations Officer, Hajia Medinat Oladotun, appeared on China Global Television Network (CGTN) to spotlight the Chamber’s commitment to promoting a balanced and sustainable economic partnership between Africa’s largest economy and the world’s second-largest.

Her participation formed part of Nigeria’s engagement at the recently concluded 138th Canton Fair — China’s largest and longest-running trade exhibition — held between October 15 and November 4, 2025, in Guangzhou.

The fair, often described as a barometer of global commerce, attracted thousands of exhibitors and investors from over 200 countries.

Nigeria-China Collaboration Key to Sustainable Economic Growth

Speaking during the international broadcast, Hajia Oladotun outlined NACCIMA’s vision to strengthen Nigeria-China collaboration across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, digital innovation, renewable energy, and e-commerce.

She noted that both nations stand to benefit immensely from strategic cooperation that promotes technology transfer, industrial diversification, and shared prosperity.

“NACCIMA believes that a stronger partnership between Nigeria and China will drive industrial capacity, enhance export competitiveness, and foster a new generation of digital entrepreneurs capable of leveraging global value chains,” she said.

She added that the Chamber continues to advocate policy reforms that make Nigeria’s investment environment more attractive to Chinese and other international investors while supporting Nigerian enterprises to scale their operations globally.

According to her, the Canton Fair provided a practical platform for Nigerian businesses to engage directly with Chinese manufacturers, investors, and policymakers — creating opportunities for long-term collaboration in areas such as green energy, logistics, and industrial technology.

Driving Trade Through Innovation and Private Sector Synergy

Highlighting the Chamber’s ongoing efforts, Hajia Oladotun said NACCIMA is working with both federal and subnational governments to deepen Nigeria-China collaboration in digital trade and smart industrialization.

She explained that the Chamber’s focus on private sector-driven diplomacy is helping to open new channels for market access and joint ventures.

“The future of trade between Nigeria and China lies in innovation-driven collaboration.

As the global economy transitions to a digital and green model, both nations must leverage each other’s strengths — China’s technological expertise and Nigeria’s youthful population and market potential — to build a resilient partnership,” she said.

Her remarks reflect a growing consensus among economic analysts that Nigeria’s trade relations with China are moving beyond traditional commodity exports to more value-added industries.

Experts have noted that with the right institutional support, Nigeria-China collaboration could help local manufacturers integrate into global supply chains and attract technology investments that stimulate job creation.

NACCIMA’s Expanding Global Footprint

The Chamber’s engagement with CGTN, a major Chinese state broadcaster, underscores its increasing visibility in global trade circles and reinforces its mission to position Nigerian businesses at the heart of international commerce.

NACCIMA has in recent years taken a more proactive approach to international partnerships, working with organizations such as the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China-Africa Business Council to expand investment pipelines and promote cross-border innovation.

According to NACCIMA, these engagements are part of its strategic communication and media diplomacy agenda designed to enhance Nigeria’s trade competitiveness and reputation as a reliable business destination.

Building on a Strong Foundation

The Chamber noted that Nigeria-China collaboration already has a solid foundation, particularly in infrastructure, construction, and industrial development.

However, Hajia Oladotun emphasized that the next phase of the partnership should prioritize sustainability, technology sharing, and mutual value creation.

“China has played a major role in supporting Nigeria’s infrastructure renewal, from railways to industrial parks.

The next step is to ensure that these projects translate into industrial transformation, export growth, and technology exchange that directly benefit Nigerian entrepreneurs,” she added.

She also identified emerging opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, agriculture technology, and digital manufacturing — sectors that align with Nigeria’s diversification agenda and China’s push for sustainable development partnerships across Africa.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations for the Future

NACCIMA reaffirmed that it remains committed to fostering economic diplomacy that empowers Nigerian businesses and drives inclusive growth.

The association said it would continue to engage both governments to harmonize trade policies, reduce barriers, and enhance transparency in bilateral agreements.

By promoting long-term Nigeria-China collaboration, NACCIMA believes both nations can create a blueprint for sustainable industrial partnerships across Africa.

The Chamber’s active participation at the Canton Fair and global platforms such as CGTN signals a renewed determination to project Nigeria as a competitive, innovative, and globally connected economy.

As Nigeria intensifies its economic diversification efforts, stakeholders agree that sustained engagement with China — anchored on fairness, technology transfer, and innovation — will remain central to achieving the country’s long-term industrial and trade ambitions.
