Lagos State begins free HIV testing across all local councils, promoting early diagnosis, awareness, and healthcare access ahead of World AIDS Day 2025.
Lagos State has officially launched a free HIV testing campaign across all local government areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in preparation for World AIDS Day 2025.
The initiative, running from today until December 1, is designed to give residents convenient, confidential access to testing while promoting early diagnosis, treatment, and awareness.
The program reflects Lagos State’s commitment to strengthening public health services and reducing the spread of HIV.
Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA), emphasised that early testing is critical for controlling HIV and saving lives.
She noted that the campaign ensures every resident can access free HIV testing in safe, discreet, and community-friendly locations.
“Testing is the gateway to both prevention and treatment,” Dr. Animashaun said. “By providing free HIV testing, we are empowering Lagosians to take control of their health and protect their communities.”
To make the initiative effective, LSACA has deployed trained counsellors, rapid testing kits, condoms, and information materials to every testing point.
These resources ensure residents receive not only accurate testing but also guidance, prevention tips, and support for those who may test positive.
