Osun police detectives have arrested a motorcycle rider accused of killing his colleague in Ede and stealing the victim’s motorcycle after a revenge plot.
The Osun police command has arrested a commercial motorcycle rider, Adedayo, over the alleged murder of his colleague, Tiamiyu Afeez, in a shocking incident that has stirred reactions across Osun State.
The suspect was reportedly apprehended by detectives attached to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osogbo, after weeks of intelligence gathering and detailed investigation into the disappearance and eventual death of the victim.
According to information released by the police authorities, the tragic incident first came to light on February 23, 2026, when a relative of the deceased reported at A Division in Ede that Afeez had gone missing.
The family member informed officers that the victim left home on February 21 for his usual commercial motorcycle activities within Ede town but never returned home.
The disappearance immediately raised concerns among family members and residents who knew the deceased as a hardworking motorcycle operator popularly called “Olode.”

Several efforts made by relatives and friends to locate him reportedly failed, creating fear that something terrible might have happened.
While the search continued, another development emerged when a patrol team from Awo Division reportedly discovered the body of an unidentified man along the Ojo/Ara Ejigbo Road.
The corpse was found with deep injuries around the neck, suggesting a violent attack.
After investigations and identification by relatives, the body was later confirmed to be that of Afeez.
The discovery transformed the matter from a missing person case into a full homicide investigation, prompting the Osun police authorities to transfer the file to the SCID in Osogbo for deeper inquiry.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed that detectives handling the matter relied on intelligence-led operations and technological tracking to uncover the suspect behind the crime.
Their efforts eventually led to the arrest of Adedayo on April 18, 2026.
Police investigators also recovered the stolen Bajaj motorcycle belonging to the deceased from the suspect, further linking him to the alleged crime.
During interrogation, Adedayo reportedly confessed to attacking and killing Afeez, claiming that the act was motivated by revenge over an incident that happened several years ago.
According to the suspect, his problem with the deceased began during the period of cash scarcity in Nigeria when many residents spent nights around banks hoping to withdraw money from ATMs.

He explained that he left home very early one morning intending to join a queue at a bank when he encountered Afeez and another security operative.
Adedayo alleged that Afeez accused him of being involved in ritual-related crimes because he was moving around at an unusual hour.
The suspect claimed that he was searched, embarrassed publicly, and taken to a police station after the deceased allegedly seized his phones and money.
Although he was later released after police officers found no evidence against him, he said his belongings were never returned.
Adedayo stated that losing his phones affected his electrical business because he lost important contacts of customers who usually called him for jobs.
According to him, his financial condition worsened afterward, forcing him into hardship and occasional labour work.
The suspect also made disturbing revelations about becoming involved in spiritual and ritual-related activities disguised as Islamic clerical services.
He admitted that some internet fraudsters approached him for ritual assistance and claimed that the practice had existed within his family background for years.
He explained that despite earning little from such activities, he continued struggling financially and blamed the earlier encounter with Afeez for contributing to his downfall.
The suspect said fate brought both men together again during Ramadan this year when he spotted Afeez riding a commercial motorcycle.
According to him, he confronted the deceased about the previous incident and demanded answers regarding the phones and money allegedly taken from him years earlier.
However, he claimed that Afeez treated the issue casually and informed him that he was no longer involved in vigilante activities but had switched fully to commercial motorcycle business.
Adedayo then collected the victim’s phone number and pretended he would need transportation services from him in the future.
Unknown to the deceased, investigators said the suspect was already nursing a revenge plan.
Narrating how the attack occurred, the suspect confessed that he later contacted Afeez and requested a trip to a remote location.
During the journey through a bush path, he allegedly attacked the victim from behind with a hidden knife.
The violent struggle reportedly caused both men to fall from the motorcycle. Adedayo claimed that Afeez pleaded for mercy and even offered to surrender the motorcycle to save his life.
Despite the pleas, the suspect allegedly continued the assault before fleeing the scene with the victim’s motorcycle through another route.
He admitted that he initially used the motorcycle for personal movement and commercial operations before fear of arrest forced him to hide it with a friend’s wife.
The shocking confession has generated mixed reactions among residents of Osun State, with many expressing concern over the dangerous consequences of unresolved grievances and revenge-driven violence.
Security experts have also warned that unresolved disputes, economic hardship, and involvement in criminal spiritual practices continue to pose serious threats to public safety in many communities.
The Osun police command has assured residents that justice will be served in the matter.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect would be arraigned in court immediately after investigations are concluded.
