The Rivers State House of Assembly has concluded the screening of commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, confirming five candidates while rejecting four others following a rigorous evaluation process.

He added, “For the remaining four, the Assembly has decided to pause on their approval due to performance issues and controversies linked to their documents.
“These nominees have not adequately demonstrated their preparedness or ability to serve Rivers State effectively. We believe they are not the right fit for the offices they intend to occupy in the Executive Council.”
Those whose nominations were rejected include Prof. Datonye Alasia, Barr. Tamuno Williams, Otonye Amachree, and Charity Deemua.
On the other hand, the nominees cleared for appointment as Rivers State commissioners include Tonye Belgam, Prof. Temple Nwafor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amarigha Edward-Hart.
The Speaker’s address highlighted the Assembly’s broader concern for ensuring that leadership positions are filled by individuals capable of driving progress and managing the state’s developmental priorities efficiently.
