The dramatic Real Madrid win against Celta Vigo produced strong reactions from Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius Jr., after Federico Valverde’s stoppage-time strike sealed a thrilling 2–1 victory. The match was far from straightforward for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who were forced to dig deep to secure the three points in a tense La Liga encounter.
While Real Madrid showed flashes of quality throughout the match, it was ultimately their resilience and persistence that proved decisive. With the clock ticking down and the score level late in the game, Valverde stepped up with a decisive moment that ensured the Real Madrid win and kept the club’s momentum going in the league.
Early Momentum and a Quick Response
The match began at an intense pace, with both sides showing attacking intent. Real Madrid looked lively in the opening stages, creating early pressure and testing Celta Vigo’s defensive organization.
Their efforts paid off when Aurélien Tchouaméni opened the scoring with a composed finish following a well-worked move. The midfielder’s goal gave Madrid an early advantage and appeared to set the tone for the evening.
However, Celta Vigo quickly responded. The home side refused to be intimidated and began pushing forward with more confidence. Their persistence eventually paid off when Borja Iglesias found the equalizer, taking advantage of a defensive lapse to bring the hosts level.
The equalizing goal changed the dynamic of the game, forcing Real Madrid to work harder to regain control.
Courtois Praises Team Determination
Following the match, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois emphasized the importance of staying calm in difficult situations. The Belgian international acknowledged that matches away from home can often become complicated, particularly against motivated opponents.
Courtois explained that the team remained focused even after conceding the equalizer. According to him, patience and teamwork were essential in helping Real Madrid stay competitive until the final moments.
The goalkeeper also played a vital role during the match, producing crucial saves to deny Celta Vigo opportunities that could have shifted the outcome. His composure under pressure helped keep the score level and allowed Madrid the chance to push forward for a late winner.
Courtois highlighted the squad’s mentality as a key factor behind the Real Madrid win, noting that the players never lost belief despite the challenges presented during the match.
Vinicius Reflects on the Tough Contest
Vinicius Jr. also shared his thoughts after the game, describing the match as physically demanding and emotionally intense. The Brazilian winger admitted that Celta Vigo created several difficult moments for Madrid, particularly during the second half.
Despite those challenges, Vinicius praised the team’s fighting spirit and collective effort. He stressed that maintaining belief is part of Real Madrid’s identity, especially when matches remain undecided deep into the game.
The forward also spoke about the importance of unity within the squad. According to him, every player understands the responsibility that comes with wearing the Real Madrid shirt, and that mentality often drives the team to keep pushing until the final whistle.
For Vinicius, the Real Madrid win was another example of the club’s ability to overcome adversity and find solutions when matches become complicated.
Valverde Delivers the Decisive Moment
As the game entered stoppage time, it seemed likely that both teams would settle for a draw. However, Federico Valverde had other ideas.
The Uruguayan midfielder produced a powerful long-range effort that found the back of the net, sending the Madrid bench and supporters into celebration. The goal was a perfect demonstration of Valverde’s ability to influence matches with moments of individual brilliance.
His strike ultimately secured the Real Madrid win, rewarding the team’s persistence and determination after a long and demanding match.
Valverde’s contribution once again highlighted his growing importance in the squad. Known for his energy, versatility, and willingness to take responsibility in key moments, he continues to be one of Real Madrid’s most dependable players.
Building Momentum for the Season
Victories like this often carry significance beyond the immediate result. Securing three points in difficult circumstances can strengthen a team’s confidence and reinforce belief within the squad.
For Real Madrid, the narrow victory over Celta Vigo could prove valuable as the La Liga season progresses. Tight matches are common in the league, and teams that consistently find ways to win them often end up competing for major honors.
The Real Madrid win also serves as a reminder of the club’s famous winning mentality. Even when performances are not perfect, the team has the experience and quality to produce decisive moments when they matter most.
Attention Turns to Upcoming Challenges
Despite the excitement surrounding the victory, the players understand that the season remains long and demanding. Real Madrid continue to compete in multiple competitions, including La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Courtois and Vinicius both stressed the importance of maintaining focus and preparing for the next challenge. The squad will need to manage fatigue, injuries, and tactical adjustments as the campaign progresses.
However, the determination shown in Vigo suggests that Real Madrid remain well prepared for the challenges ahead.
If the team can maintain the same level of resilience and unity displayed during this match, they will continue to be a formidable force in both domestic and European competitions.
