Rasmus Hojlund has revealed how working under Antonio Conte has reshaped his approach to football since arriving at Napoli, describing the transformation as both tactical and mental.
Speaking after several months under the Italian coach, the Danish striker said his development has accelerated rapidly, insisting he is now “a different player” compared to when he arrived at the club.
The striker joined Napoli on loan from Manchester United last summer, seeking consistent football and renewed confidence after a challenging spell in England.
Since arriving in Serie A, Conte’s demanding methods have helped Hojlund refine his movement, decision-making, and understanding of high-intensity attacking systems tailored to modern Italian football.
“Compared to Rasmus in August, I’m a different player,” Hojlund said in an interview with Il Mattino, underlining the scale of the changes he has experienced.
He added that despite already playing at elite level, he still believes there is “a lot of room for improvement,” crediting Conte’s relentless standards for pushing him further.
Conte’s reputation as a serial winner preceded his arrival in Naples, and Hojlund admitted that the manager’s mentality has left a strong impression on him.
“He’s mentally very strong,” the striker explained. “I’m fascinated by his mentality. He’s passionate, fierce, and above all, a winner.”
The Danish forward stressed that Conte’s obsession with winning creates a clear atmosphere within the squad, where every match is treated as non-negotiable.
“If he doesn’t win, we immediately understand that we haven’t done enough,” Hojlund said, describing the clarity of expectations within the dressing room.
This demanding culture has helped Napoli remain competitive domestically, while also maintaining discipline during a season filled with tactical adjustments.
Hojlund believes the tactical clarity under Conte has allowed him to rediscover confidence in front of goal and improve his link-up play with teammates.

“He was there for me at United to explain things about the club,” Hojlund explained. “And he’s done the same here.”

He referenced teammates such as Billy Gilmour, Sam Beukema, Leonardo Spinazzola, and Alessandro Buongiorno as key figures in building harmony.
