PARAMARIBO, Suriname, September 25, 2025 – Suriname is preparing to host the inaugural Caribbean Energy Week (CEW) from March 30 to April 1, 2026, positioning the country at the center of one of the most dynamic investment conversations in the region.
Organized by Energy Capital & Power alongside Sheriff Consultancy, Colibri Business Development, and Elite D’Fam, the event will take place at the Royal Torarica Hotel in Paramaribo and is set to become the must-attend forum for regional energy collaboration and investment.
Caribbean Energy Week 2026 will convene ministers, regulators, industry executives, investors, and service providers from Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, and across the wider Caribbean.
The event is being held under the auspices of Suriname’s President Dr. Jennifer Geerlings-Simons and will feature high-level participation from Guyana, Barbados, and CARICOM, underscoring the significance of the Caribbean’s growing role in the global energy economy.
Driving Regional Investment and Cooperation
The creation of Caribbean Energy Week builds on the success of the Suriname Awareness Symposium 2025, founded by Vanessa Yacoob and Ileana Ferber, and takes a wider approach to regional energy opportunities.
The program will focus on oil, gas, mining, renewables, carbon credits, and power while highlighting the most dynamic markets, including Suriname, Guyana, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Produced in partnership with the African Energy Chamber, Afreximbank, and S&P Global Commodity Insights, CEW 2026 represents a pivotal platform for connecting global investors with Caribbean opportunities.
Dedicated sessions will explore exploration and production, oilfield services, energy technology, and financing, while workshops will highlight local content development, skills training, and supply chain expansion to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
Suriname’s Emerging Role
Suriname is on the verge of becoming a major oil producer, with an estimated 2.2 billion barrels of recoverable resources.
The country’s first major deepwater development—TotalEnergies’ GranMorgu project—is expected to come online in 2028 with a capacity of 220,000 barrels per day.
Meanwhile, Petronas and Shell are actively exploring across offshore blocks, and upstream spending is projected to reach $9.5 billion between 2025 and 2027.
This rapid transformation positions Suriname as a cornerstone market for Caribbean Energy Week 2026, providing a global platform to showcase investment-ready opportunities and foster collaboration across the basin.
Regional Outlook: Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago
Guyana continues to attract global attention with its estimated 13 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Flagship projects such as Liza, Payara, Yellowtail, and the recently sanctioned Hammerhead project are driving exponential growth in output.
The country’s legal and investment frameworks will be spotlighted at CEW, offering investors clarity on long-term growth opportunities.
Trinidad and Tobago, a long-standing energy hub, is revitalizing its offshore deepwater sector.

ExxonMobil was recently awarded offshore Block TTUD-1, potentially unlocking more than $21.7 billion in investment. Service giants like SLB, Halliburton, and Baker Hughes are reinforcing their presence, signaling strong confidence in the Caribbean’s future.
Mining and Resource Diversification
Beyond hydrocarbons, Caribbean Energy Week 2026 will also address the mining sector, a crucial driver of regional economies.
In Suriname, gold accounted for 74% of total exports in 2024, with Newmont and Rosebel as key operators.
Guyana is advancing its mining industry with projects led by Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti, and Gold Fields, under a robust legal framework.
By integrating mining discussions alongside oil, gas, and renewable energy, CEW 2026 will provide a holistic perspective on resource development and sustainable economic diversification.
A Catalyst for Regional Growth
Through its multi-track program, Caribbean Energy Week aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation, facilitate new partnerships, and drive regional transformation.
From deal signings and networking sessions to workshops and ministerial panels, the event will position the Caribbean as a key player in the global energy transition.
