Renowned Yoruba sport newscaster and journalist, Hammed Yusuf, has emerged as the new BCOS NUJ Treasurer after winning 40 votes in Oyo NUJ election.
The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated its new executive committee, with Hammed Yusuf, a Yoruba sport newscaster and respected sports journalist par excellence, emerging as the new BCOS NUJ Treasurer.
The inauguration was supervised by the Acting Chairman of the Oyo State NUJ, Comrade Sola Oladapo, who commended the chapel for conducting a peaceful and transparent exercise.
The highlight of the election, which was conducted both online and physically, was the contest for the position of Treasurer. In this contest, Hammed Yusuf polled 40 votes to defeat his opponent, Bode Akinjola, who secured 13 votes. Out of the 54 votes cast, one was declared void.
Other executive positions were returned unopposed, with each candidate receiving 53 votes of confidence from members.

The Acting Chairman of the Oyo State NUJ, Comrade Sola Oladapo, praised the conduct of the election and charged the new executives to justify the trust of members.
“Leadership in NUJ is about service. I urge you all to work together and put the welfare of members first,” he said.
Chairman Ademola Balogun, on behalf of the new exco, promised unity, innovation, and a renewed focus on welfare and professional development.
