Bauchi Police dismantle an armed robbery gang terrorising Giade communities, recover stolen items and motorcycles, and intensify crime-fighting operations statewide.
The Bauchi State Police Command have recorded a major breakthrough in their ongoing fight against crime with the arrest of six suspected armed robbers believed to be responsible for a string of violent attacks in Giade Local Government Area of the state.

The successful operation followed credible intelligence provided by members of the public and highlights renewed efforts by security agencies to restore safety across rural communities.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the suspects were apprehended after an attack on operatives of the Nigerian Forestry and Security Services attached to the Giade Emirate Council.
The incident, which occurred on January 9, 2026, involved a gang of seven armed men who allegedly stormed the area wielding cutlasses, knives, sticks, and a locally fabricated firearm.
The victims of the attack were identified as Mohammed Musa, popularly known as Baushe, aged 40, and Auwal Maidawa, both residents of Giade Local Government.
The two security personnel sustained injuries during the assault and were forcefully dispossessed of their belongings, including a dane gun, a torchlight, and a mobile phone.
The attack reportedly caused panic within the community and raised concerns about rising insecurity.
Acting swiftly on the information received from a concerned citizen, the Bauchi Police deployed detectives from the Giade Division under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Bello Yusuf Kumo.
A coordinated manhunt was launched immediately, leading to the arrest of a key suspect, Aminu Abdulkadir, a 22-year-old resident of Unguwar Guru.
During interrogation, Abdulkadir reportedly made a confessional statement and provided details that enabled officers to track down other members of the gang.
Five additional suspects were subsequently arrested.
They include Habu Musa, also known as Habule; Adamu Samaila, alias Aliyos; Yusuf Sabo, alias Isibu Dan Tsure, all aged 24; Abdullahi Garba, alias Audu Guntu, aged 25; and Dan Azare. All the suspects are residents of Giade town.
Preliminary findings from the criminal investigation revealed that the group had been operating as an organised armed robbery syndicate, targeting homes and vulnerable residents across Giade and surrounding areas.
Police sources disclosed that the suspects frequently carried out night-time raids, breaking into houses and shops to cart away valuables.
Items allegedly stolen by the gang include 13 mobile phones, two wrappers, one lace fabric, an MP3 player, and a Bluetooth device. The estimated value of the stolen items is put at about N1.2 million.
During the operation, officers recovered several exhibits, including two red Boxer motorcycles believed to have been used during robbery operations, sharp knives, a saw used for forced entry, four ATM cards, five motorcycle ignition switches with keys, and three capacitors.
The Bauchi Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to uncover possible links to other criminal activities and identify additional collaborators.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all suspects be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
In a related development, the Bauchi Police also recorded another success in Bauchi metropolis with the recovery of a stolen tricycle.
On January 17, 2026, operatives of the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Hassan A. Musa, intercepted a tricycle during a routine confidence-building patrol.
The tricycle was being driven by Isiyaka Mohammed, who failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding ownership of the vehicle.
Further intelligence-led inquiries revealed that the tricycle had been reported stolen about two months earlier by its rightful owner, Babangida Mohammed, in the Kobi area of Bauchi.
Police investigations uncovered that the tricycle, originally green in colour, had been repainted yellow in a deliberate attempt to disguise its identity and evade detection.
The recovery has been described as part of sustained efforts by the Bauchi Police to curb vehicle theft and other forms of urban crime.
The Commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the stolen tricycle case.
He also commended officers involved in both operations for their professionalism and dedication.
Residents of Giade Local Government and Bauchi metropolis have been urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
The police assured the public of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property while intensifying patrols and intelligence-driven operations across the state.
