As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State continues efforts to strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections, a fresh call for loyalty and unity has emerged from within the party.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and mobilise party stakeholders around the APC’s 2027 political agenda.

The Oyo State APC Peace Advocates Publicity Secretary, Elder David Oluokun, has challenged members who are dissatisfied with the party’s direction or recent political developments to make their positions clear rather than allegedly working against the party from within.

In a strongly worded statement, Oluokun urged APC members to prioritise the collective interest of the party over individual political ambitions.

Oluokun, while acknowledging the right of members to make their political choices, said those who have decided to support alternative political interests should openly declare their position instead of remaining within the APC while allegedly pursuing agendas contrary to the party’s interests.

He maintained that the APC’s ability to remain competitive in Oyo State ahead of 2027 would depend largely on unity, loyalty and a clear commitment among its members.

STAND UP AND BE COUNTED: STOP PRETENDING, BE BOLD ENOUGH TO LEAVE

By David Oluokun

This is the time to tell ourselves the truth as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

Some people have been bold enough to leave the party openly. We respect them for that. That is democracy. But what we cannot respect is those who still remain among us physically, but their hearts and legs are outside — organizing conferences, holding secret meetings, and working for the interest of their principals who claim to be aggrieved.

Let us be honest with ourselves.

Many of you shouting today have all benefited from this same party in the past. You have gotten tickets, appointments, contracts, recognition and relevance on the platform of APC. The party favoured you yesterday and you sang its praises.

But suddenly, because the ticket did not favour your candidate this time, you now want to destroy the same house that made you. You cannot enjoy the party when it favours you and seek its downfall when it doesn’t. That is not loyalty. That is selfishness.

Politics is not about one person. Today it may favour A, tomorrow it will favour B. That is how a party grows.

If you have chosen another path, if you have decided that your loyalty is now to another party or to the opposition, be bold enough to leave openly. Stop pretending to be loyal while working against the party from within.

Stop attending our meetings in the day and praising the maladministration of Seyi Makinde and the opposition at night in the name of "I am a party man." We see you. The members see you. History is recording you.

APC is bigger than any individual — bigger than any so called Apex leader , bigger than any former office holder, bigger than any aggrieved aspirant. Individuals will come and go, but the party will remain.

And by the grace of God and with a united front, this APC will not fail. It will take over Agodi Government House in 2027.

So I call on all true progressives: Stand up and be counted now. This is the time to know who is who.

The time of pretenders is over.

APC is our party. 2027 is our target. Unity is our strength.
