2027 elections: Prepare, participate, represent – AAC urges members to join political movement

The African Action Congress (AAC) is mobilizing members and progressives across Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections, urging unity, participation, and people-focused leadership.

The African Action Congress (AAC) has intensified its political mobilization in Oyo State with a renewed call on party members and concerned citizens to actively participate in the 2027 elections.

According to the statement issued by Kayode Babayomi, the Chairman, AAC Oyo State chapter, the period ahead demands preparation, sacrifice, and commitment from individuals who are ready to challenge the prevailing political culture and offer credible leadership rooted in the interests of ordinary people.

It emphasized that Nigeria is approaching a defining political moment.

According to the party, years of governance dominated by entrenched political elites have produced widespread dissatisfaction, economic hardship, and declining public trust.

The forthcoming 2027 elections, it argued, present an opportunity for citizens to collectively redirect the course of governance through organized political action.

The AAC statement noted that its call is not limited to existing party members alone.

Rather, it is deliberately reaching out to activists within progressive movements, student organizations, labour unions, and community-based groups who have consistently advocated social justice and accountability.

The party maintained that meaningful political change can only occur when individuals with shared values unite under a platform that prioritizes fairness, transparency, and inclusive development.

Central to the party’s message is the belief that political organization remains the most effective tool for societal transformation.

Drawing inspiration from Pan-African political thought, the AAC stressed that spontaneous protests and isolated activism, while important, must be complemented by structured political participation.

This philosophy, the party said, underpins its strategy as it prepares for the 2027 elections, which it described as a critical test of collective resolve against systemic failures.

The statement further expressed confidence in the political maturity of Oyo State residents, noting that voters are increasingly aware of the consequences of poor leadership choices.

According to the AAC, the electorate has witnessed repeated cycles of unfulfilled promises and governance that prioritizes personal gain over public welfare. The party believes this growing awareness creates fertile ground for an alternative political vision ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reaffirming its position, the statement described AAC as a genuine pro-people platform committed to restructuring governance around accountability and social equity.

It argued that Nigeria’s political challenges are not rooted in a lack of resources or talent, but in leadership models that exclude the masses from decision-making.

The party said its objective is to replace this model with one driven by participatory democracy and ethical leadership.

The statement also highlighted the importance of formal party membership, stressing that only registered members are eligible to seek nomination and contest under the AAC banner.

This requirement, the party explained, is designed to ensure ideological commitment and internal discipline as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.

Prospective aspirants were encouraged to begin early engagement at the grassroots level rather than approaching politics as a last-minute venture.

As part of its concluding message, the statement warned against political apathy, describing inaction as a silent endorsement of the status quo.

It urged citizens to reject the temptation to remain spectators while decisions affecting their lives are made by a few.

According to the party, the success of the 2027 elections from a people-oriented perspective depends largely on the willingness of ordinary Nigerians to organize, participate, and demand accountability.

The statement concluded by inviting interested individuals to seek further information through its state organizing structures, reiterating that the journey toward change requires collective effort, patience, and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals.
