Governor Uba Sani Urges Northern Leaders to Address Root Causes of Insecurity, Cautions Against Blaming Tinubu Administration
Uba Sani on Northern insecurity– Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has urged political and traditional leaders in Northern Nigeria to resist the temptation of placing sole blame on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for the region’s persistent security challenges.
Speaking during an interactive session held on Tuesday at the historic Arewa House in Kaduna, Governor Sani emphasized that the insecurity plaguing the North has deep-seated causes that predate the current government. He argued that the issues at hand are systemic and the result of accumulated failures over the years.
“Our problems did not begin two years ago,” the governor stated. “They are the consequence of decades-long policy neglect, entrenched poverty, widespread illiteracy, and the marginalization of vulnerable communities. It would be both dishonest and misleading to lay all the blame on President Tinubu.”
He noted that insecurity is not solely the result of military or policing failures but is often driven by underlying socio-economic factors.
“Insecurity is not just a failure of arms. It is the result of years of economic exclusion, poor governance, and societal neglect,” Governor Sani asserted.
The governor called on Northern elites to rise above political sentiment and take a more active and constructive role in rebuilding the region. According to him, ensuring peace and stability requires collective effort and genuine commitment from all stakeholders.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility,” he said. “No president or governor can succeed in isolation. We must all take ownership of the North’s future. This means engaging in peacebuilding, promoting inclusion, and driving meaningful development.”
Governor Sani’s remarks come at a time of increasing concern about insecurity in various parts of Northern Nigeria. His call represents a shift from blame to responsibility, urging the region’s leaders to join forces in confronting the root causes of the crisis.
