DAKAR, Senegal, October 28, 2025 – The Senegal-UK Chamber of Commerce (SENUKCHAM) has officially signed on as a Strategic Partner for the upcoming MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference and exhibition, scheduled for December 9–10 in Dakar, Senegal.
The partnership marks a significant step in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation between the United Kingdom and the MSGBC region — comprising Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Guinea-Conakry.
With the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 platform recognized as the premier meeting point for policymakers, investors, and energy leaders, SENUKCHAM’s involvement highlights the growing influence of UK businesses in West Africa’s energy transformation.
Deepening UK-Senegal Relations Through Energy and Trade
In collaboration with the British Embassy in Dakar, SENUKCHAM officially inaugurated the British Chamber of Commerce in Senegal in June 2025 — a milestone in strengthening trade and investment ties.
The Chamber provides a vital bridge for UK companies seeking entry into Senegal’s expanding energy, mining, and industrial sectors, while also supporting Senegalese firms targeting the UK market.
British companies have long contributed to Senegal’s energy development, led by bp, operator and lead partner of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project — a transformative cross-border venture with Mauritania.
Executed jointly by bp, Kosmos Energy, Petrosen, and SMH, the project celebrated a historic achievement with first LNG exports in April 2025, marking the dawn of full-scale production.
Phase 1 of the GTA project will deliver approximately 2.4 million tons of LNG per year, positioning Senegal and Mauritania among Africa’s key LNG producers.
Expanding the UK’s Energy Footprint Across the MSGBC Basin
Beyond Senegal, the UK’s economic footprint continues to expand throughout the MSGBC basin.
In Mauritania, bp is driving new rounds of gas exploration and pioneering green hydrogen initiatives aimed at positioning the country as a regional clean energy hub.
In Guinea-Conakry, London-based mining giant Rio Tinto is spearheading the Simandou iron ore project, one of the largest undeveloped mineral deposits in the world, with production expected by late 2025. Meanwhile, AngloGold Ashanti, a UK-linked firm, continues to boost Guinea-Conakry’s gold exports through sustained investment in the Siguiri Gold Mine, a pillar of the country’s mining sector.
Strategic Partnership to Advance Regional Energy Cooperation
Through its Strategic Partnership with MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025, SENUKCHAM aims to amplify UK participation in West Africa’s evolving energy ecosystem.
The collaboration is designed to connect UK investors, policymakers, and energy innovators with West African stakeholders to explore joint ventures, technology transfers, and sustainable growth opportunities.
“The United Kingdom has been instrumental in shaping the energy future of Senegal and the wider MSGBC region,” said Sandra Jeque, Project Director at Energy Capital & Power.
“From pioneering LNG developments to advancing hydrogen and mining, this partnership at MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 underscores our mutual commitment to fostering cross-border investment, innovation, and sustainable growth across the region.”
Showcasing British Expertise at MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025
At MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025, SENUKCHAM will lead a high-level delegation of UK business representatives from the energy, finance, and industrial sectors.
The event will feature investment forums, B2B meetings, and panel discussions highlighting opportunities in LNG, renewables, infrastructure, and technology.
SENUKCHAM’s participation aligns with the organization’s mission to strengthen economic diplomacy, drive trade diversity, and facilitate long-term partnerships between British enterprises and their West African counterparts.
“The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference presents an ideal platform for us to spotlight British innovation and deepen trade collaboration with the MSGBC economies,” said a SENUKCHAM spokesperson.
“We are confident this engagement will open new frontiers for sustainable energy cooperation and mutual growth.”
