APM candidate Adekanmbi pledges continuity of Makinde’s Oyo development agenda, promising jobs, security reforms, and grassroots transformation ahead of 2027.
The governorship race in Oyo State has taken a fresh turn as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, publicly pledged to sustain and expand the developmental framework established under Governor Seyi Makinde.
Adekanmbi made the declaration shortly after his affirmation as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election during a high-profile event held in Ibadan, which attracted party leaders, delegates, and political stakeholders.
Describing his emergence as a defining moment, the APM candidate said his nomination represents continuity of what he called a “development-driven movement” that has reshaped governance and restored public confidence in the state’s leadership structure.
In a speech that has already sparked political reactions, Adekanmbi praised Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as a transformative administration that has impacted infrastructure, education, healthcare, agribusiness, youth empowerment, and internal security systems across Oyo State.
He referenced the “Omituntun” governance philosophy, stating that it has created a development wave that reached all zones of the state.
According to him, the model has redefined leadership expectations and raised standards of governance delivery.
Political observers note that Adekanmbi’s remarks strongly position him within the continuity debate ahead of the Oyo 2027 governorship election, where succession politics and legacy politics are already shaping early campaigns.

He promised to prioritize job creation for youths, women empowerment programs, and support for farmers, traders, artisans, and small business owners.
He also outlined plans to strengthen key sectors such as education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, tourism, commerce, technology, and industrial development, noting that sustainable growth depends on sectoral balance and long-term planning.
Security also featured prominently in his remarks, as he expressed concern over recent kidnapping incidents in parts of Oyo State, including Oriire Local Government Area. He stressed that no meaningful development can thrive without peace and stability.
Adekanmbi emphasized the need for stronger coordination among security agencies and sustained investment in intelligence and community protection strategies to safeguard lives and property.

On political relations, he acknowledged the Peoples Democratic Party leadership in Oyo State and called for continued cooperation across party lines, insisting that politics should not destroy long-standing relationships or hinder state progress.
He also extended an olive branch to other aspirants within the APM, describing them as capable stakeholders whose contributions remain valuable to the state’s political and development journey.
According to him, unity within the party is essential as the election approaches, stressing that the movement is greater than individual ambition and must remain focused on collective progress.
Adekanmbi urged youths, women, professionals, farmers, and market leaders to see his candidacy as a shared responsibility, promising that their welfare would remain central to his governance blueprint if elected.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to continuity, stability, and inclusive governance, insisting that the next phase of Oyo’s development must build firmly on existing foundations while expanding opportunities for all citizens.
