Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) has been declared the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following his victory in the party’s primary election held across the state.
In the contest, Rhodes-Vivour defeated his main challenger, Silas, after polling 12,948 votes, while Silas secured 6,183 votes.
The primary election attracted party leaders, delegates, and supporters from different parts of the state, with many observers commending the process for being orderly, peaceful, and transparent.
Reacting after the official announcement of the results, GRV appreciated party members and supporters for the trust reposed in him, describing the victory as a collective achievement for everyone committed to positive change.
“I deeply appreciate every supporter who stood by this movement and participated in the voting process. This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to everyone who believes that our state deserves better leadership and a brighter future,” he stated.

Rhodes-Vivour further stressed that securing the party’s ticket was only the beginning of a larger mission to transform the state, calling on party faithful and residents to remain united and focused ahead of the governorship poll.
According to him, the movement is built on the ideals of hope, progress, transparency, and accountable governance, adding that collective efforts would be needed to achieve meaningful development for the people.
“The journey ahead requires commitment, unity, and sacrifice. Together, we will continue to build a government that prioritises the welfare of the people and delivers true progress for the state,” GRV added.
