Arsenal launch £70m Bruno Guimaraes bid as transfer window heats up

Arsenal launch £70m Bruno Guimaraes bid after agreeing personal terms with the Newcastle captain. The Gunners are accelerating moves for midfield reinforcements as the summer window gets hectic.

BBC Sport reports club-to-club talks have begun. Newcastle remain firm on valuation, but Arsenal’s offer is imminent after missing out on Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.

Arsenal Push Big For Midfield And Attack

The £70m move for Guimaraes comes days after Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis. The 24-year-old Greek winger joined on a five-year deal from Club Brugge for £34m.

“Tzolis arrives as a replacement for Leandro Trossard,” the club confirmed after he passed a medical. Trossard sealed a £15.3m move to Besiktas last week.

Arsenal have also entered the race for Yan Diomande. Bild reports the Gunners would pay €100m for the RB Leipzig winger, joining City, Real Madrid and PSG in the chase.

Diomande has agreed personal terms with PSG, but Leipzig want €120m. That gap could open the door for Arsenal, who were previously hijacked by Chelsea for Rogers.

The club are also keen on defenders. Links to Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Jacobo Ramon continue, while Julian Alvarez, Bradley Barcola and Marcus Rashford remain on the radar.

Chelsea Close On Maxence Lacroix

Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace. The France defender is a key target for new boss Xabi Alonso.

Talks accelerated after the World Cup. Chelsea expect to wrap up a deal worth around £51m as they strengthen their backline options.

Palace are preparing for life without Lacroix. They are moving for Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima as his replacement in the transfer market.

The Blues have also welcomed Morgan Rogers and agreed moves for wonderkids Benji Flowers and Harrison Bettoni. They want Kerim Alajbegovic and Alex Scott next.

Alajbegovic impressed at the World Cup with Bosnia. The Telegraph says Chelsea are favourites for the 18-year-old in a deal worth around £30m, beating Atalanta, Juventus and Napoli.

Manchester United Handed Tchouameni Boost

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni. The Sun claims Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho would sell for around £68m.

Mourinho reportedly wants funds for a £85m swoop for Rodri. That could clear the path for United to land the France midfielder this summer.

United have already added Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. They are also looking at Eduardo Camavinga, Manu Kone, Carlos Baleba, Sander Berge, Danilo and Tyler Adams.

Nico Schira claims United have shown interest in Camavinga. The 23-year-old is “no longer considered untouchable” at Madrid after missing France’s 2026 World Cup squad.

United have reportedly pulled out of the race for Alex Scott. Chelsea and Arsenal remain in the hunt for the Bournemouth midfielder.

Liverpool And Tottenham Make Moves Too

Liverpool have made an initial approach to Monaco for Maghnes Akliouche. Sky Sports says the Reds checked on the 24-year-old France winger.

PSG are also pushing for Akliouche, but Monaco have rejected offers around £34m so far. Liverpool also target Barcola and Rayan as wide options.

Tottenham are eyeing Andreas Schjelderup and Rafael Leao. The moves come as Cristian Romero prepares to exit North London this summer.

Spurs need attacking depth and width. Schjelderup offers creativity while Leao would be a marquee statement if a deal materialises.

Other Deals And Done Business

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The winger adds pace to Hansi Flick’s front line.

Roma have enquired about Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi. Foot Mercato reports the Italians approached both club and player, with Chelsea demanding £17m.

Arsenal’s third signing of the window was confirmed yesterday. Alongside Tzolis, they added free agent goalkeeper Illan Meslier and made Piero Hincapie’s loan permanent.

The market is moving fast. Clubs are racing to beat deadlines and avoid late premiums as prices rise across Europe.

What Fans Are Saying

Supporters are buzzing online. Arsenal fans hope Guimaraes adds steel in midfield, while United fans debate if Tchouameni fits their rebuild.

Chelsea fans welcome Lacroix’s defensive presence. “We need leaders at the back,” one fan posted after news of the £51m deal broke.

With big names linked everywhere, this window feels unpredictable. One thing is clear: Arsenal launch £70m Bruno Guimaraes bid and the race for elite midfielders is officially on. ⚽
