The All Progressives Congress (APC) has once again called on all aspirants seeking leadership positions at the party’s forthcoming national convention to carefully study the guidelines and rules before making any payments for forms.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, emphasized on Wednesday that understanding the procedures is crucial, noting that many aspirants fail to read the instructions before paying the required fees.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Morka stated that the APC has made all necessary information available publicly, including the official account number for payments, the required documents, and the specific procedures that must be followed.
He clarified that anyone who chooses to pay the fee does so voluntarily and is presumed to have read and understood all rules governing the process.
“Party members should read the guidelines before making payments. Every individual who paid money chose to do so, and when they did, they were fully aware of the rules that apply,” Morka explained.
This remark comes after reports emerged of some aspirants expressing frustration over their inability to obtain forms despite having met all stated requirements and paying the prescribed fees.

The APC spokesperson stressed that while payment is a requirement, it is not the only factor determining eligibility.
The party operates under strict rules, guidelines, and a constitutional framework, which include considerations such as the zoning formula—a principle designed to ensure equity and fairness in leadership positions across the country.
“We are the largest political party in Nigeria, and perhaps even on the African continent. With such a vast membership and multiple aspirants for key positions, disagreements and complaints are almost inevitable,” Morka noted.
He emphasized that adherence to party rules is non-negotiable, regardless of the amount of money paid.
Morka further explained that the APC’s congress is guided by clearly defined procedures.

Aspirants are expected to express interest in positions through the prescribed channels and must comply with all laid-down rules. Failure to do so may result in disqualification, regardless of any payment made.
“Paying the fee is a step in the process, but it is not sufficient on its own. Aspirants must also observe the zoning formula and other party regulations,” he added.
The zoning arrangement, according to Morka, ensures that leadership positions are distributed fairly across different regions, fostering inclusivity and national cohesion.
The guidance from APC comes at a critical time as the party prepares for a national convention expected to determine its leadership structure for the coming years.
With multiple aspirants vying for positions, the party has reiterated that compliance with all procedures—including adherence to timelines, submission of necessary documents, and understanding of the party constitution—is essential for a smooth and credible selection process.
Party officials also highlighted that aspirants should not rely solely on payment or personal influence to secure positions.
Instead, they should prioritize transparency, fairness, and adherence to the party’s constitutional and procedural framework.
This approach, the APC leadership asserts, is key to maintaining internal democracy and unity within the party.
Morka reiterated that the APC has always encouraged aspirants to be proactive and well-informed.
“Before paying for any form, aspirants must read and understand the guidelines. This will prevent misunderstandings and ensure that all procedures are followed correctly,” he said.
In addition to emphasizing the importance of rules, the APC has also indicated that complaints regarding the form acquisition process are taken seriously.
The party encourages members to follow official channels for inquiries or grievances rather than resorting to public accusations or misinformation, which could create unnecessary confusion.
Observers note that the APC’s insistence on adherence to guidelines reflects a broader effort to strengthen internal democracy.
By ensuring that all aspirants understand the processes and requirements, the party aims to reduce disputes and promote a fair and transparent system of leadership selection.
In conclusion, the APC continues to stress that aspirants must combine compliance with due diligence. Payment for forms, while necessary, is only one step.
Following the party’s guidelines, understanding the zoning formula, and adhering to all constitutional requirements are equally important.
Party officials maintain that these measures are in place to ensure fairness, credibility, and unity as the APC navigates the critical process of electing its national leadership.
