All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State Chapter, has taken an early step toward the 2027 general elections through the inauguration of Local Government Area Coordinators under the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a move aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement, improving party coordination, and consolidating support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration across the state.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, elected officials, and loyal party members from different parts of the state.
The event signaled a renewed push by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to entrench a coordinated, grassroots-driven political structure capable of delivering tangible electoral outcomes in the next election cycle.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Oyo State Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, described the inauguration as a strategic intervention rather than a symbolic gathering.
According to him, the political terrain ahead requires discipline, unity, and sustained engagement with the electorate, especially at the ward and polling unit levels where elections are effectively won or lost.
Senator Folarin charged the newly inaugurated Coordinators to see their appointments as a call to service that comes with responsibility and accountability.
He stressed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are expected to function as the engine room of grassroots mobilisation by organising party members, energising supporters, and reaching out to undecided voters within their local governments.
He explained that the Renewed Hope Agenda represents a governance philosophy rooted in people-oriented policies, inclusive leadership, and national development, adding that the responsibility of the Coordinators is to communicate these ideals in simple and relatable language to local communities.
According to him, translating government policies into messages that resonate with ordinary citizens remains critical to building trust and sustaining political loyalty.
The Senator also emphasised the importance of collaboration, noting that the Coordinators must work in harmony with existing APC structures at the local and state levels.
He warned against internal rivalry and stressed that respect for party hierarchy, cooperation with party executives, and internal cohesion would determine the success of the assignment given to the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
Expressing gratitude, Senator Folarin acknowledged the support of the APC leadership in Oyo State, party elders, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the inauguration.
He also praised the national and South-West zonal leadership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for providing strategic direction and coordination, while commending party members across the state for their unwavering loyalty and enthusiasm.
One of the major highlights of his address was the setting of a clear performance benchmark for the Coordinators.
Senator Folarin disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been tasked with delivering at least a 35 percent improvement on the APC’s 2023 presidential election results in Oyo State during the 2027 polls.
He noted that the target is achievable through disciplined mobilisation, data-driven engagement, inclusive participation, and constant presence among the people.
He further reminded the Coordinators that leadership at the grassroots demands integrity, humility, visibility, and consistency.
According to him, political leadership should be measured by service delivery and results rather than titles or personal recognition.
He urged them to uphold the values of the APC and ensure that their conduct inspires confidence and earns respect within their communities.
Also speaking at the event, the South-West Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, expressed strong optimism about the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
Adeyeye, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), stated that President Tinubu’s performance in office would translate into massive electoral support if effectively communicated at the grassroots.
He reminded the LGA Coordinators that they serve as direct representatives of the President within their respective local governments.
According to him, the responsibility to canvass votes, explain government policies, and defend the administration’s record rests heavily on their shoulders.
He urged them to remain visible, proactive, and committed to engaging the electorate consistently.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, also addressed concerns about the scope of the Coordinators’ roles.
He clarified that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were not established to compete with or undermine existing APC executives at the local level.
Instead, he said their mandate is to complement party structures and amplify the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.
Adelabu urged the Coordinators to arm themselves with facts, verifiable data, and performance records of the federal government in order to counter misinformation and opposition narratives.
He stressed that discipline, focus, and strategic communication would be critical in winning public confidence and securing massive votes for the APC in Oyo State.
Several other party leaders also spoke at the event, offering words of guidance and encouragement to the newly inaugurated officials.
Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Sharafadeen Alli, and Ayo Adeseun, alongside former Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, and the current State Chairman, Pharm. Olayide Abass, all advised the Coordinators to strictly adhere to party rules and guidelines.
They collectively emphasised the need to project a positive image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC through responsible conduct, effective communication, and loyalty to party ideals.
According to them, the actions and attitudes of grassroots leaders significantly influence public perception and electoral outcomes.
The ceremony concluded on a note of unity and renewed determination, with party members reaffirming their commitment to strengthening internal structures and expanding the APC’s grassroots footprint across Oyo State.
