Monchi, Aston Villa’s sports director, is most likely the driving factor behind the club’s ongoing interest in La Liga players, and on Friday, he was looking at two potential targets. Monchi was called to Vallecas to watch Rayo Vallecano defeat Celta Vigo 2-1. Earlier this week, it was rumored that Aston Villa is interested in right-backs Andrei Ratiu and Oscar Mingueza, who both played on Friday night.

Aston Villa are particularly interested in Mingueza, and it is thought that they may make a move for the 25-year-old before the winter transfer window ends in early February.
They are willing to pay his €20 million release clause, and if they do, Celta will be helpless to prevent the deal from happening.
It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa make a move for Mingueza, which would be a huge blow to Celta. Football España reported that Aston Villa’s director attended a La Liga match with two scouted players.
