The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Soludo wins Anambra governorship election, confirming Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the winner of the November 8 poll, securing a second term in office until 2030
The announcement was made on Sunday at the commission’s Awka headquarters by Professor Edogah Omoregie, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin.
“I hereby declare that Soludo Chukwuma Charles of the APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Edoba said.
Governor Soludo, running under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a decisive victory with 422,664 votes, while his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes. Other candidates included Paul Chukwuma (YPP) with 37,753 votes, George Moghalu (Labour Party) with 10,576 votes, and John Nwosu (ADC) with 8,208 votes.
Observers have praised the election for being largely peaceful and well-organized. Voter turnout was high across most local government areas, reflecting the electorate’s strong engagement.
