Abimbolu Oluwafemi, a 38-year-old prophet of Cherubim and Seraphin, has been placed under custody for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
The victim’s mother had gone to the Ijebu Igbo divisional police station to report that the cleric had tricked her into thinking he could give her a spiritual bath to ward off bad luck, but in the afternoon, at around 2:00 PM, he allegedly sexually assaulted her daughter by a river.
The suspect was promptly taken into custody by the gender section of the Ogun State Police Command, which also set up a medical checkup at Medicare Hospital in Ijebu, Igbo, and provided the required paperwork for the gathering of evidence.
An inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the circumstances that permitted a self-proclaimed prophet to have illicit relations with a minor, whose mother is also a member of his church, which has a congregation of approximately one hundred, according to CSP Omolola Ofutola, the command spokeswoman.
