The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men in Akure following a violent incident that nearly claimed the life of a woman, an episode the authorities are treating as attempted murder.
The swift response by officers, triggered by a late-night distress call, has drawn public attention to the importance of timely reporting and community cooperation in addressing violent crime.
According to police sources, the incident occurred in the Oke-Ijebu area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
A woman identified as Fasuru reportedly contacted security operatives after she was attacked at her residence.
Acting on the emergency call, personnel from the Ijapo Divisional Police Headquarters were immediately mobilised to the scene, where they found the situation had escalated into what investigators described as a clear case of attempted murder.
Upon arrival, officers encountered two men allegedly assaulting the victim.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects, later identified as Sodiq and Emmanuel, had inflicted severe injuries on the woman, leaving her unconscious before police intervention halted the attack.
The operatives reportedly subdued the suspects and secured the area to prevent further harm, underscoring the value of rapid-response policing in life-threatening situations involving attempted murder allegations.
The victim was promptly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Medical personnel provided immediate treatment, while the police ensured her safety and commenced documentation of the incident.
