Nigerian Army operations across Nigeria neutralised terrorists, rescued victims, and dismantled criminal networks to restore peace and security.

The military successfully neutralised two terrorists, rescued 17 kidnapped victims, and arrested 20 suspects linked to violent crimes, oil theft, and other illicit activities.
According to a senior source at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the nationwide success follows a series of coordinated and intelligence-driven operations designed to cripple insurgent networks, weaken their logistics, and reclaim control of unsafe territories.

In the North-East, troops of the 192 Battalion, working jointly with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah (JAS) fighters in a fierce battle at Hudugum Village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Two insurgents were killed during the exchange, and several others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops maintained dominance in the area, conducting clearance operations to deny terrorists freedom of movement.
Adding to the momentum, three notorious terrorists identified as Fannami Ari (also known as Abu Dujana), Hussaini Hassan Modu (also known as Abu Yusuf), and another trainee surrendered to troops in Kukawa and Damboa Local Government Areas of Borno State.
Military intelligence reports revealed that the insurgents turned themselves in due to frustration with their leaders and worsening living conditions within their hideouts. The development marks a growing success in psychological and humanitarian components of Nigerian Army operations.
In the North-West, troops of the 1 Brigade successfully thwarted two coordinated kidnap attempts in Zamfara State.
Acting on credible intelligence, they rescued 11 victims along the Magami–Jan Gemi and Kucheri–Bilbis routes.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families. The operation, conducted under tight tactical coordination, reflects the army’s unwavering commitment to ending abductions and criminality in the region.
The North-Central zone also witnessed remarkable progress. Under Operations ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) and WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), troops conducted simultaneous clearance missions across Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kaduna States.
These raids led to the arrest of 15 suspects involved in cultism, cattle rustling, kidnapping, and communal violence.
In addition, four kidnap victims were rescued in Plateau and Taraba States, while troops recovered assorted arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials.
Meanwhile, the South-South theatre recorded significant gains in curbing oil-related crimes. Troops of the 29 Battalion uncovered and destroyed two illegal oil refining sites at Biseni in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The operation dismantled makeshift refineries used by oil thieves and halted ongoing crude oil processing that had damaged the environment.
Similarly, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade intercepted 62 sacks of stolen crude oil estimated at over 3,000 litres in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
These findings highlight the environmental and economic benefits of Nigerian Army operations beyond the fight against insurgency.
A senior military official emphasized that the successes stem from improved intelligence sharing, collaboration with other security agencies, and greater synergy with community-based groups.
“The Nigerian Army operations are not only about combat; they involve intelligence, civic engagement, and rebuilding trust in communities affected by violence,” the officer noted.
He added that troops have intensified clearance patrols to prevent the regrouping of terrorists and to dismantle the logistics corridors used by armed groups to smuggle weapons, fuel, and food supplies.
This approach ensures that criminal gangs face sustained pressure, reducing their ability to operate freely or rebuild their networks.
The Nigerian Army has also stepped up public sensitisation campaigns, encouraging local communities to share timely information with security personnel.
