The Nigerian Air Force says precision airstrikes destroyed a terrorist enclave in Borno, killing several insurgents and crippling logistics bases.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded another major success in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism after carrying out precision airstrikes that destroyed a terrorist enclave in Borno State.

The latest operation, executed under Operation Hadin Kai, dealt a significant blow to insurgent activities in the North-East by eliminating several terrorists and destroying strategic facilities believed to have supported their operations.

The successful mission was conducted on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Yaganari, located within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State.

Military authorities said the operation formed part of sustained efforts to deny terrorist groups safe havens, weaken their operational capabilities and support ongoing ground offensives by troops deployed across the region.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, explained that the air operation was launched after credible intelligence reports indicated renewed terrorist movements and increased concentration of fighters within the area.

According to him, intelligence gathered from multiple sources suggested that insurgents had begun reorganising their activities at the location, prompting the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai to immediately commence surveillance missions aimed at verifying the reports before taking action.

Ejodame disclosed that Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms were deployed to monitor the suspected enclave.

The surveillance missions successfully confirmed the presence of terrorist structures, logistics hubs and other facilities believed to be supporting the group’s operations and movement within the region.

Following confirmation of the targets, the Nigerian Air Force launched carefully coordinated precision airstrikes against the identified locations.

The bombardment, carried out with high accuracy, destroyed several structures used by the terrorists while neutralising a number of fighters occupying the enclave.

Military authorities noted that the operation represents another important milestone in the Armed Forces’ sustained campaign against insurgent groups operating across the North-East.

By destroying logistics facilities and operational infrastructure, the military believes the latest strikes will significantly reduce the ability of the terrorists to coordinate attacks, transport supplies or regroup after previous setbacks.

The Nigerian Air Force stated that continuous aerial offensives have increasingly restricted the movement of terrorist elements, making it more difficult for them to establish new camps or launch coordinated attacks against civilian communities and security personnel.

According to the statement, sustained pressure from air operations has continued to force insurgents into defensive positions, limiting their operational freedom and weakening their capacity to rebuild after suffering repeated military assaults.

The Air Force added that close coordination between air assets and troops on the ground remains one of the major strengths of Operation Hadin Kai.

The collaboration allows intelligence gathered from surveillance missions to be quickly translated into military action, thereby improving operational efficiency and increasing the chances of successful missions.

Reacting to the latest success, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the officers, pilots and other personnel involved in planning and executing the operation.

He praised their professionalism, courage and commitment to protecting the nation from terrorist threats.

The Air Chief reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s determination to sustain relentless offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal groups threatening national security.

He stressed that the service would continue deploying its air power capabilities to support ongoing military operations across the country.

Air Marshal Aneke declared that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to working closely with other branches of the Armed Forces to locate, disrupt and eliminate terrorist groups wherever they attempt to establish operational bases.

He maintained that terrorists would not be allowed any safe haven or opportunity to recover from the continuous military offensives.

According to him, sustained pressure from coordinated air and ground operations remains essential to ensuring lasting peace and restoring stability in conflict-affected communities.

The Chief of the Air Staff further expressed confidence that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are making steady progress in consolidating the gains already achieved in the counter-terrorism campaign.

While acknowledging that security operations remain challenging, he said the military remains focused on denying insurgents the capacity to threaten lives and property.

Operation Hadin Kai has continued to play a central role in Nigeria’s campaign against insurgency in the North-East.

Through intelligence-driven operations, coordinated airstrikes and ground offensives, the military has repeatedly targeted terrorist camps, weapons storage sites and logistics networks in an effort to dismantle the operational structures of insurgent groups.

Security analysts have consistently noted that intelligence-led operations remain one of the most effective strategies in modern counter-terrorism campaigns, as they reduce the likelihood of collateral damage while improving the precision and effectiveness of military strikes.

The latest operation in Yaganari further reflects the Nigerian military’s continued determination to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and consolidate recent gains in the fight against insurgency.

As security operations continue across the North-East, the Armed Forces have reiterated their commitment to protecting Nigerians, restoring peace to affected communities and ensuring that terrorist groups no longer find safe spaces from which to launch attacks.
