Governor Umo Eno denies rumoured feud with Udom Emmanuel, describing the report as false and reaffirming his commitment to peace, unity, and good governance.
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dismissed media reports alleging a political rift between him and his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, describing the story as false, malicious, and purely fabricated.
The State Commissioner for Information, Honourable Aniekan Umanah, addressed journalists on Sunday, clarifying that Governor Umo Eno maintains a cordial and respectful relationship with Mr. Emmanuel.
He said the misleading report was a deliberate attempt by mischief-makers to stir tension ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the false publication, Governor Umo Eno was accused of ordering the withdrawal of security details attached to the former governor’s residence.
Umanah, however, dismissed the report as “a tissue of lies,” insisting that the story had no basis in truth.
“The governor did not, at any time, direct the withdrawal of security operatives assigned to former Governor Udom Emmanuel or any other past leader,” Umanah clarified.
“Matters of police deployment or reassignment are strictly handled by the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, not the governor.”
He explained that all former governors of Akwa Ibom State continue to enjoy their legally approved security details and privileges.
No former governor or their aide, he noted, has reported any withdrawal of personnel, confirming that the claim exists only in the imagination of its authors.
Umanah further described the publication as a calculated distraction intended to divert attention from Governor Umo Eno’s ongoing efforts to deliver democratic dividends to the people through his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
“This government is fully focused on development, not distractions,” the Commissioner said.
“Governor Umo Eno remains steadfast in promoting peace, unity, and inclusive governance across Akwa Ibom State.”
The Commissioner highlighted that the ARISE Agenda—which emphasizes Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Education—guides the governor’s transformative policies.
He assured that the administration’s projects are improving the lives of residents through massive investments in infrastructure, job creation, and rural empowerment.
He emphasized that Governor Umo Eno holds his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, in high esteem, maintaining open communication and collaboration for the progress of Akwa Ibom.
The relationship between both leaders, Umanah said, reflects maturity, continuity, and political stability.
Umanah also used the opportunity to warn the public against consuming unverified information from untrustworthy online sources.
He urged responsible journalism and encouraged citizens to rely on official government channels for accurate updates.
“Fake news is a threat to public peace,” he stated.
“We appeal to the media to uphold truth and integrity in their reports. Governor Umo Eno’s administration welcomes constructive criticism but rejects deliberate falsehood.”
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to peace and progress, Umanah said Governor Umo Eno remains undistracted by political propaganda.
He called on the people of Akwa Ibom to continue supporting the state government in its quest to sustain stability and development.
“Our governor is a peace-loving leader with a heart for service,” Umanah said.
“He will continue to ensure that all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, enjoy the full protection and benefits of the law.”
The Commissioner reiterated that the alleged political rift between the two leaders was entirely unfounded.
The government, he said, is focused on consolidating the achievements of past administrations while driving Akwa Ibom toward greater prosperity under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno.
“Let it be clear,” Umanah concluded, “there is no rift, no feud, and no conflict between Governor Umo Eno and former Governor Udom Emmanuel. What exists is respect, collaboration, and shared commitment to the peace and unity of Akwa Ibom State.”
